Modern art, classical music, the unusual, wild windswept places

We like cultural arty places to visit ( that are child friendly), and also love unusual wild off the beaten track places too.

Carolina and I just finished a one-week, April Paris - London exchange with this delightful family. We were taken by their charming, peaceful, well-equipped home & garden situated meters from the Hampstead Heath; but just 45 minutes or so to the National Theatre or the City, door-to-door via tube. It's also quite easy to take a bus to Hyde Park, Primrose Hill, Kensington, and other destinations. Hampstead Heath is not just a city park. It's unspoiled English countryside that happens to be situated in northwestern London. It's great for walking, running, or swimming in the fine, spring-fed ponds. We made a habit of starting our days with an English breakfast at the Brew House terrace, located at Kenwood House. It felt like we were living in an English village, not central London. So, this was the perfect combination of city and country, a rare thing for London.

What we said about Norbert's house:

We had a wonderful week at Norbert's apartment. The apartment was very well situated - we could walk to Notre Dame easily for example. The neighbourhood was interesting and quiet and had a marvellous farmers' market and good restaurants. The apartment was light filled, tidy and clean and perfect for us (2 adults and 2 children age 8 and 13). We were made very welcome, with excellent instructions and Norbert very kindly had made a delicious curry left in the fridge for us as we arrived in the evening. Thank you very much Norbert for a perfect exchange.
