- Colin Retired businessman (72)
Hello from Magnificent Melbourne!
We are Penny and Colin, Colin is a retired business man. We enjoy concerts, walking, gardening and I enjoy painting and making clay sculptures for mosaics. We have two children, a daughter, married and living close by with 3 children. Our son lives and works in Singapore. I have worked as a high school art teacher, book keeper and credit manager. We have a beach cottage,(which could be negotiated as part of the exchange) situated on the Mornington Peninsula, an area which is renowned for both family bay beaches and ocean surf beaches, good golfing, wineries, fishing and sailing. Might be helpful to google 'mornington peninsula victoria' for more info.
We have had many exchanges, all highly successful and we've enjoyed every moment. Three long term exchanges in England, and shorter breaks in Sydney, Perth, Darwin, Canberra, Caloundra, New Zealand, Mexico, Canada and the USA. Even Borneo! All great - so much nicer than hotel rooms.
We have had very loved pets in the past but since our old dogs went to doggy heaven, we decided not to have anymore dogs, however we weakened and have now become the happy owners of an old rescue dog called Phoebe. She can live with our daughter's family when we exchange.
January 1 — September 1, 2016 These dates are flexible
Our preference is for long term exchanges to the U.K. Non simultaneous is fine with us.
We spent nearly two weeks split between Penny and Col's Melbourne home, and their Mornington Peninsula beach cottage. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Their Melbourne home is beautifully decorated and is in a neighborhood with very nice older homes and mature trees. Eating breakfast on the deck while watching the local rainbow lorikeets forage in a flowering tree is one of our all time favorite home exchange experiences. It is easy to explore this city without a car. There are very convenient train and tram connections to downtown. For day trips outside the city, we were able to walk to a local Europcar. We especially enjoyed tasting wine in the internationally famous Yarra Valley. The Mornington Peninsula is scenic, and has good opportunities for hiking and exploring the coast. A highlight was seeing wild kangaroos in the upland area of the peninsula. We also enjoyed visiting the small local wineries. We had a wonderful time. Penny and Col were excellent home exchange partners!
We count ourselves as amazingly lucky to have exchanged homes with Todd and Susan. The condo is situated in a perfect spot to explore all that SFO has to offer. Public transport is a breeze although most of the best sights are within walking distance. Food in SFO is good and there are plenty of restaurants or supermarkets just around the corner. Susan and Todd couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. On a scale of 1 to 10 this exchange had to be an 11 !!! Thanks a million, From Penny and Col Coridas
We visited Camberwell, Melbourne for 7 days in March 2013 in order to attend a family wedding and visit friends. Penny and Col (our exchange partners) have a fantastic property. It more than lived up to our expectations. They were friendly and helpful when answering questions over email and provided a very useful printed document with information on the house and surrounding area. We were in contact during the exchange and upon returning to our home in Sabah we had the chance to meet up in Kota Kinabalu. Penny and Col treated our home with care and respect and we found it pretty much just as we had left it. This was our first exchange, and so we were a little nervous, but all-in-all it was a fantastic experience. We're looking forward to our next one! Roger and Cara
We visited Penny and Col's lovely home in April 2013 along with some of our close family. The house was everything that was promised on the website and more. The location was fantastic, quiet with easy access to the town through public transport. Penny and Col were friendly and helpful during the planning stage, and took great care of our apartment during the exchange. All-in-all it was a great experience and we are looking forward to more successful exchanges.
We, along with another couple enjoyed a great week in Roger and Cara's home. Their apartment is in an excellent position, i.e. night markets, food, beach etc. Cara had thought of everything and left useful notes on places of interest and most importantly, how to get to them. We used the drivers recommended by Cara and found them to be very reliable and honest. Roger and Cara took good care of our home in Australia and we would be happy to recommend them to anyone wanting an exchange in Sabah.
Al and I spent a wonderful week in Colin and Penny's Camberwell home. It is a lovely comfortable place, and the street is SO QUIET! The patio is the perfect place to recoup the day, and watch the birds busy at their feeder Penny is an accomplished artist, and we were lucky to see some of her work. . It is just 2-3 minutes to the metro, and we found it very easy to find the main routes out of the city from Camberwell. Many thanks for a great exchange, hope we get to meet sometime.
