We had an amazing, unforgettable exchange with the Brandsen/Croon family. They are friendly, open, relaxed and very easy to communicate and exchange with. Their house is beautiful, consisting of 4 floors in the Westerpark neighborhood which is a perfect location. It is 2 blocks from a large, beautiful park on a canal with everything you could want, trails for running and biking, playgrounds and petting zoos and "wild west" experiences for the kids, restaurants and bars, etc. The neighborhood has restaurants, shops, grocery stores and everything else you could possibly need within a 2 block walk (great fries and ice cream too). It is about a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bikeride to the Central Station and much of the rest of the touristic center of Amsterdam. The Leidesplein is a 10 minute tram ride (which stops about 1 block from the house) or 15 minute bike ride away. The house is well equipped with everything you could need and very comfortable. This was our 4th exchange and easily our kids' favorite by far, and for us it was tied for our favorite. We highly recommend exchanging with the Brandsen/Croon family and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
The Adlin Family were (in 2013) our first exchange partners. They were kind, patient, informative and very trust worthy. We had a perfect balanced exchange and enjoyed their lovely home very much. It is quiet, well equipped, conveniently located for great shops in Chevy Chase and transportation to the centre of Washington and the greater DC area. There is so much to see and do in the area, we would like to come back one day for a second exchange. The Adlins took care of our house and car very well. We can highly recommend an exchange with the Adlins ! Bob and Carolien & daughters from Amsterdam
For Christmas and New Year 2014 we exchanged with Carolien, Bob, Bobbie Fay and Maud. Also a part of the swap were our two cats and the extraordinary beautiful Juno in Amsterdam! We have been in Amsterdam for the third time now, but never stayed longer than this time. We enjoyed every single day. The five storey house had a big contribution to the experience, because it has its history and is very typical for the city. The Area around the house is more quite than the city center (thank god) but quite close to it (e.g. 9 straatjes, where we spend a lot of time). After our excursions everybody had his own storey to recover. Carolien and Bob had writen a nice and detailed description of house, area, city and country with lots of recommendations for places to go and see. Thank you for the great time.
For Christmas and New Year 2014 we exchanged with Thomas and Jolanta, Denise and Nathan. We also swapped cats! We had a nice time in their spacious and cosey house, that is near public transport, shops and some nice restaurants. Thomas had made a nice and personal selection of places to see and restaurants to go to. Berlin has so much to offer that we would like to go back soon. Winter in Berlin can be very cold, we experienced. Next time, we pick the Summer!
