Greetings from the beautiful Napa Valley, California.
Kathi and David love living in the Napa Valley. Kathi is a performer in the Napa Valley as well as San Francisco. We love travel, food, wine, exploring other cultures and meeting new people. Getting lost in a small European village is our idea of fun! We also love scuba diving, snorkeling and alpine skiing. We have two adult daughters. Kaitlin, 28, lives in Hood River, Oregon, and Kristen, 25, lives on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Our daughters may occasionally join us on our exchanges. We look forward to exchanges in vibrant cities, charming villages, beautiful beaches, and exotic locations!
This past summer we traveled to Cusco, Peru and hiked the Inca Trail over 4 days and 3 nights while camping in the Andes. We love to immerse ourselves in an area's culture and learn about its history and people.
We spent almost a week in this lovely Napa Valley town which was walking distance from the house. There were many interesting shops and galleries to browse and so many restaurants we weren't there long enough to try them all. This was our best organised exchange thanks to the owners' attention to detail and communication both before and during the vacation. The house itself was pretty, comfortable and very clean. The weather in March was a bit cool to take full advantage of the gorgeous and meticulously maintained backyard and pool, but we certainly enjoyed admiring them from within. Of course, our days were spent driving through the beautiful countryside trying to decide which of the hundreds of wineries to try. A food and wine lovers' paradise, for sure!
Thank you guys!! There couldn't be a nicer place to stay in the Napa Valley! The home is situated right in the middle of the valley with nothing but vineyards and hills in the front and a beautiful garden and swimming pool in the back. It’s within a short walking distance to downtown St. Helena where we were able to enjoy coffee and fresh baked goods in the morning and a variety of excellent restaurants for lunch and dinner. We can’t wait to come back! Best regards, Dana & Suzanne Tirado
We just had the pleasure of staying for one week in Dana and Suzanne's beautiful beachfront villa, Casa Maria, north of Mahahual. We feel Dana and Suzanne have become friends since they stayed in our home last August. They were always available for question, suggestions, and helpful tips for the area. The house itself is stunning with a private beachfront location. You can see the ocean from every window and sliding door. My sister joined us and loved having her own upstairs bedroom with a beautiful ocean view. Claudio, the caretaker was always available for any help we needed. We went on many adventures while there: Chacchoben ruins, Bacalar Lagoon, and a great, isolated snorkeling beach one north of the house on the beach road. Mahahual is a very small fishing village that is now a cruise ship port but there were no ships in port during our stay which was perfect. Mahahual is great for scuba diving but it was too windy during our stay to go diving. We had dinner at Mayan Gardens Resort just 3 minutes north of the home. The one and only draw back is that the house is at least 30 unites from Mahahual so going into town for meals took a bit longer than we had anticipated. But for the beauty, views, serenity, and comfort of the home, Casa Maria can't be beat! Thank you Dana and Suzanne!
we spent 2 wonderful weeks in Kathi and David's home in Saint helena. We loved everything: the house itself is beautifully designed, all the rooms on the same floor, the large living room and of course the back ground, with it's large warm pool and the hot tub; the morning i walked to the back back yard to take a peach for my breakfast, i actually ate them all i guess, while my son was simmering in the hot tub with his book and his coffe cup. after breakfast, we walked to Saint Helena to buy very good bread and have a drink seated on a terrace. the days passed on so quickly that we had time to drive to San Francisco only 4 times. all the time we were able to communicate with Kathi and everything went extremly well. i woudln't leave. Napa is really a great place; Thank you so much Kathi!
We just returned from a wonderful trip to France and staying in Nadine and Dominique's apartment in Lyon. It was great to have such a comfortable home to come back to each evening. The condo is spacious and accommodated four adults very well. The kitchen is very well stocked for cooking in. There is a tram stop just two blocks away which made it very easy to get downtown. Nadine and Dominique included their car in the exchange which made it possible for us to do many fabulous day trips to Chamonix, Annecy, an Beaujolais. Lyon is a beautiful city full of history and charm. It is also the gastronomic center of France and we had many fantastic meals while there. Nadine and I communicated for months before the exchange and she was always available by email to answer questions while we wee there. I would highly recommend this exchange for not only the wonderful city but for the helpfulness of the hosts, Nadine and Dominique. Thank you!!!
