Bienvenue à Montréal!
I am Myriam and I live with my 11 years old son, Noah. My boyfriend Eric also has an 11 years old son, Mathis. We try to travel together as much as we can. We love to travel!!! We have traveled all over Europe and North America, in Mexico, Peru and in Asia for two years in total. We lived a year in China in 2007-2008. For the past 10 years, we've been regular home exchangers and think it's a fantastic way to discover people and places.
I am a communication advisor and Eric leads the workshop at the Montreal Jazz Festival.
AN IDEAL MONTREAL EXCHANGE!Peter and Myriam's home is an attractive, tranquil, and comfortable base from which to explore the fascinating city of Montreal. Their place is located on the Plateau, one of the most interesting neighbourhoods anywhere, with scads of intriguing restaurants, shops, and parks just steps away. The Metro, busses, Mont-Royal, Avenue du Parc, and Boulevards St. Laurent and St. Denis are only a few minutes walk away. McGill is a 20-minute walk, as is Outremont and Mile End. Downtown Montreal is 30 mins. on foot, as is Little Italy and the excellent Jean Talon market. The bus and the Metro are convenient, quick, inexpensive options for getting anywhere in greater Montreal. At the outset of our exchange, we enjoyed a day with Peter, Myriam, and Noah at our home. As a result, they have become friends whom we plan to see again. We found their home to be just as they had described it, and they left our home spotless. They are friendly, interesting, well-travelled people, both of whom are highly fluent in both English and French, and very knowledgeable about Montreal and the province of Quebec. Our experience with Peter and Myriam was just as an exchange should be: interesting, enjoyable, and trouble-free. We highly recommend an exchange with them to anyone wanting to experience the real Montreal.
What a treat to have spent a couple of weeks at Brent and Cheryl's home in the Comox valley. We arrived the day before our Home Exchange partners left for our home in Montreal. It was great to spend an evening with them. They offered a lot of valuable information on the region and cooked up a wonderful meal for us. We listened to their advice and were more than satisfied. They have a lovely home with an unforgettable view of the Strait of Georgia, the northern gulf islands and the Coast Mountains. The home is surrounded by massive trees and a wide variety of plants and flowers. The inside of their home is tastefully decorated and filled with great books and CD's plus comfortable furniture to relax in. We would often walk down to the beach to just sit and look out for seals, herons and all sorts of other wildlife. Cheryl and Brent also lent us their car which made discovering this laid back area a real pleasure. There are so many things to see and do in the surrounding area that we never had to travel far to discover the beauty of the area: Hornby Island, Miracle Beach, Qualicum Beach and Mount Washington among many other places are all within an hours drive and were well worth the visit. We highly recommend an exchange with Cheryl and Brent to anyone looking for an opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful parts of North America. We will keep in touch with these great people whom it was an honour to get to know. Luckily their charming daughter Caitlin is in Montreal so we will have many opportunities to meet them all again.
We had a wonderful experience with this exchange. We got to meet the family when they arrived in our city, which was great. Also, they had done many previous exchanges and we had not, so they showed us the ropes a bit. Their place was pleasant, comfortable and all was as they had described. They were extremely considerate of our home. We highly recommend these exchange partners.
We had a wonderful 3-week exchange with Gretchen and Rick last summer. We got to know them better over a wonderful dinner at their place when we arrived in San Francisco and kept in touch frequently during the exchange. They made us feel at home right away and they gave us lots and lots of useful advice about their favorite activities, places and restaurants. We also had the chance to meet Gretchen's sister and her family, who lives upstairs, and had a good time with them. Their house was perfect for us, comfortable with lots of sunlight. The Mission District is a great neighborhood to explore. It has been very interesting to live there for a while, to discover its vibrant atmosphere, its boutiques, its restaurants. Its central location is also convenient to get to the other parts of San Francisco. And what more can be said about San Francisco... What a fabulous city and what an amazing area! It was our 2nd time over there, we fell in love again! We felt very lucky to have had this exchange and to meet these great people!
We had a wonderful exchange experience over (US) Thanksgiving weekend 2010. The apartment is lovely and perfectly equipped for cooking and dining in--but with so many excellent and varied restaurants in the Plateau Mont Royal neighborhood, we often chose to go out and sample someone else's cooking. We enjoyed wandering around the area and strolling in the park just after Montreal's first snowfall of the season. The central location made it very easy to get around--and tempting not to go anywhere else! Peter and Myriam supplied terrific recommendations for places to eat and shop and for activities in Plateau Mont-Royal. They also took excellent care of our home and pets. We hope to repeat the experience!
We totally enjoyed our exchange with Carolyn, Mike and Harriet in Garisson. We spent the long Thankgiving week-end over there, in their comfortable house in the woods. It was great to see the sunset in the living room, or to see deers from their patio! All that, only one hour away from Downtown Manhattan!! We were also charmed by the area, with its beautiful villages and towns along the Hudson River. We'll definitely want to explore more of this fascinating place, with its historic mansions, antique shops and breathtaking scenery. The one-hour train ride from Garisson to New-York city is a sight in itself, along the beautiful Hudson River, entering the city without any stress and arriving in the spectacular Grand Central Station!! What more can you ask for?
Peter, Myriam, and Noah’s house was our first exchange, and it was a great experience. Their home was exactly as described in their listing: the photos were accurate, as well as the descriptions of how long it took to visit sites around town. Communication was excellent before, during, and after the exchange. Peter and Myriam left their home ready for guests and arranged for a friend to give us keys and show us around, which we really appreciated. We felt right at home. When we returned home we were happy to see that our home was just as well taken care of. I highly recommend Peter and Myriam as exchange partners!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Mont Royal Plateau in Miriam's lovely home. Fabulous location to access the best of everything Montreal has to offer, including great food/restaurants, walk up to Mont Royal to get the best views of the city and a home to return to with all mod cons., comfortable and convenient, easily managed, clean and modern with rental bicycles right outside the front door! An inner city location with NO noise disturbances is a rarity and I loved walking out 25 metres each morning to grab a fresh baguette. Myriam and Eric were absolutely lovely and generous hosts who welcomed us royally upon our arrival and recommended many of the best attractions and eateries we visited. We'd visit again in a minute if we were able to.
Our exchange with Lindsey and Ron this summer was fantastic! It gave us the opportunity to discover the stunning Sunshine Coast area, enjoy the ocean, play in the waves and meet great people. We had the chance to meet Lindsay and Ron when they arrived in Montreal, before our departure, and spent a wonderful evening talking about the cultural and political similarities of our respective countries (and also the best things to do in both our areas!). Their house is just perfect, confortable, elegant, relaxing and a few steps from the beautiful (and perfect as well) Alexandra Headland beach, in a nice and quiet area. Nearby we found all the services required to make our stay easy, we bought delighful fish and seafood in Mooloolaba, all available within walking distance. We did great daytrips almost everyday, driving 30 minutes or less to interesting destinations such as Noosa, Coolum Mount and Beach, the Austalia Zoo, Mapleton and the Glass House Mountains. Reading in the hammock on the 2nd floor big veranda was also a great way to spend a day! This exchange has been memorable for our two 10-years-old and us! It was our 1st time in Australia and we now want to return to see more of this country!
We exchanged our home with Myriam and Eric during christmas time and our experience was fabulous. They are experience exchangers. They even prepared a guide with a lot a useful informations such as recommendation on restaurants and things to do in Montreal. Their house is really nice and we felt right at home. The house is close to everithing such as restaurants, grocery stores, cafe shops and it is close to the metro. Myriam and Eric are very friendly and it is easy to exchange with them. We highly recommend them for an exchange. You can be sure that you will be quiet satisfy and you will love the experience! Thank you, Myriam and Eric for this great experience!
We appreciated this Québec-Montréal exchange very much. It allowed us to be near our family during the Holidays, while having our own space for us and our 2 kids. It's been easy and pleasant to arrange an exchange with Marie-Andrée and Philip. Their house is very welcoming, confortable and super clean. It is located in a quiet neighborhood, near the city and the forest as well. It's a great base to visit the Québec area. We'd love to renew the experience and highly recommend an exchange with them.
