We just got back from a wonderful week at Jackie ...

We just got back from a wonderful week at Jackie and Rich's home in Kissimmee, Florida for the week of 4/13 - 4/20/14. Jackie was so easy to work with and gave us a warm welcome with fresh cookies, a bottle of wine and all the instructions we needed to have an easy, relaxing week. Their home has an upscale feel. It is very comfortable, in pristine condition with an open floor plan and lovely designer touches in every room. Although it's a four bedroom home there is a large open hangout space upstairs that is outfitted with a TV, video games and board games, two double beds and two futon couches and is perfect for a group of kids or teens. This is in addition to the living room/dining room and family room areas downstairs. My kids loved having a heated pool to ourselves at the house and it was a highlight for them. This home is set up for fun with a pontoon boat at the dock in the back on the canal and a golf cart to get around the neighborhood. We had a few rainy days so we never got a chance to take out the boat but Jackie was extremely accommodating in providing everything we needed to take the boat out to the lake. The house is in a new gated community where every house is on a canal. There is a neighborhood feel but there are some lovely natural elements. Jackie and Rich's home has lush tropical landscaping. We enjoyed seeing interesting tall marsh birds walking around the neighborhood and through the yard. There is a wide walking path leading to the lake and the community pool/restaurant that goes through groves of large old oak trees with hanging spanish moss and also by an eagle sanctuary. We spotted a baby alligator, turtles, and marsh birds on the long pier that extends out over the marsh and out to the lake. We especially enjoyed taking the golf cart to the pool complex that overlooks the large marsh with sweeping views of the lake Toho. We felt like we were in a 5-star resort with stunning views, tropical landscaping and an upscale casual restaurant that delivered frozen drinks to us poolside. My kids loved the water slide at the pool. We've been to Disney many times and we were tired of staying in an expensive hotel with a crowded pool. We loved having space and privacy with all of the resport-like amenities at Jackie and Rich's home. It was well worth the 30 minute drive to Disney and I'd say it made it our best Disney trip.
