Kelly and her sister Susan had a wonderful time in at the house on Lake Lure. The house is hidden from the road and very private with its own dock overlooking the lake. The boat ride on the lake was fantastic with many incredible houses to view. The main reason for the trip was to see the Biltmore. The detail built into the house was really ahead of its time and the grounds were so beautiful, especially the orchids. We toured it for parts of two days. We hike the Grandfather Mountain which had very beautiful views, including some fantastic water falls. We spent several days in Asheville shopping and the high point was we visited the best shoe store ever (Top Shoes) you definitely want to hit it. We rented segways for the first time and they were a blast.
We had a wonderful time and experience. We do not fish, hunt, nor snowmobile, but the lodge was a haven for relaxing and recharging our better ides. It is a bit more remote then we expected, so we spent more time in our car than anticipated...but so much to see. Scenery and hiking was fabulous...Sluce Box Park was great. Loved the drive to Castle Town...an off road adventure, and the ghost town did not disappoint.. Loved all the small local restaurants. No regrets!!!
