Greetings from the green mountains of Vermont!
We are Chris and Raenetta - Chris is a software engineer who works from home and Raenetta is an emergency room nurse who works at the medical center in Burlington. We have two daughters Avery, who lives in Colorado and Addison, who attends The University of Vermont, and a 14 year old son who is in 9th grade. The exchange would be both of us and our son Cameron, with possible visits from out daughter(s) if the exchange occurs during UVM breaks.
We also have a 4 year old Yellow Labrador dog (Bella) who is very calm, obedient, great with kids, and full of love. Additionally, there are two mellow outdoor cats, and three chickens who provide fresh eggs. The ideal exchange would be with a family that is willing to watch our flock for us (and we watch yours?). Additionally, we can arrange for a pet sitter if you would like to make some trips in the area while you are here.
We are experienced overseas exchangers and are a warm, calm, caring family and promise to treat your home, pets and plants with tender care.
Any time These dates are flexible
We would be interested in an exchange to Colorado at anytime of the year to visit our daughter, Avery.
Any time These dates are flexible
We would love to explore the pacific NW someday
Love NYC anytime of the year (except August)
We have a wedding to attend in sept/oct 2016 and would love to exchange a large home for our family.
We are especially passionate about the great outdoors we love skiing, hiking and kayaking in Vermont. We love visiting beaches, mountains and cities when traveling
We exchanged with Chris & Raenetta & kids over the Christmas holidays Dec.2012/Jan.2013. We had an amazing time at their place in Vermont. We went for a skiing trip and skied at Smuggs almost every day. It's a short 15-20 minute drive over to Smuggs from the house and it was not a problem at all. We loved heading back home after a day of skiing actually, to the comfort of the cozy home and sweet Bella was always there to greet us. Loved the space it provided, the setting, lots of space around. The weather was fantastic, we had sunny skies and lots of fresh snow. Except for 1 day which was a snowstorm and ofcourse no sunny skies that day, just lots of white. Turns out we had planned on staying in that day and not going skiing, it was the 25th Christmas day, and we had a wonderful cozy Christmas with the fireplace on and snow falling outside. Chris and Raenette had decorated the whole house for Christmas... and it was beautiful. They left stockings on the mantle with gifts for each family member and we felt very welcome and very grateful to have found this wonderful exchange. Our home was impeccable when we returned and I can recommend an exchange with Chris and Raenetta wholeheartedly. Jericho and surrounding area is very pretty, the people are super friendly, I loved getting to know this part of the States. Smuggs is the Best! A super fun super friendly place for family skiing. Great service, great rentals, lessons, friendly staff, great amenities, a super nice daycare center (they'll even take little 2.5-3year olds baby skiing right there in their playyard during recess/playtime outside), lots of trails and mountains to choose from, we could ski there another few trips and not have seen/done all trails. Burlington is a nice city and has lots of shops & stores and is fun to do when taking a day off from skiing. Would love to go back and exchange again :)
We exchanged with Julia, Stewart and the kids for Christmas-New Years 2012 . The exchange was complicated (kids, Christmas, other country) but it was a huge success - very good exchange family. There was even a real Christmas tree and stockings with our names on them when we arrived. The house is a real gem - peaceful, open air, pool, tiki bar. Also a 5 minute drive to our favorite beach (Eagle Beach). Have to say, we have never experienced anything like a New Years Eve in Aruba - incredible! We have no hesitation giving them a very strong recommendation - great family and great trip!
We had a wonderfull time at Raenatta and Chris home. The house and the big garden is fantastic, so quiet near a forest... we loved the terrasses and hot tub, and made some fires in the garden at night. We love Vermont for hiking, water falls, mountains, markets, fishing, lakes where we used their kayacs. We took care of Bella, the lovely dog and the 2 sweet cats, and chicken (Thanks for the eggs !) it s an unforgetable exchange and will be difficult to have better. Marcus family took really good care of our house and cat. My husband and i loved to be there, and my teen age boys also. I would recommand to every body to go to Jericho and do an exchange with raenatta and chris. Family Segard
We had a wonderful exchange with Chris, Raenetta, and their family. Not only Vermont is a beautiful state, the house and its location are incredible. Bella (the dog) is very well behaved and a great companion that made the stay even more special. We loved sitting on the porch to watch the boys playing whiffle ball or run with Bella, or simply to read and relax. It was a perfect setting for us to reunite with our older son. Chris and Raenetta organized and prepared the house very well and made settling in very easy. They also gave us access to a nearby beautiful lake where we used their kayaks. All in all - one of the best exchanges we've had.
We had an amazing exchange in Hawaii it was everything you would imagine Hawaii to be like
For our first home exchange, we could not have chosen a better family or location! We swapped houses and cars with Chris, Raenetta and their family for seven weeks over the Christmas / New Year period. We exchanged our surfboards and sand for their lifestyle of snow and skiing, and had the most memorable, exciting and different holiday - truly a trip of a lifetime. Jericho VT immediately stole our hearts - such a charming and traditional town, and so pretty, especially at Christmas time. Chris and Raenetta's house was homely, inviting, cosy and comfortable. A gorgeous woods trail winds its way around the perimeter of the property, giving us a chance to see woodpeckers and squirrels and other wildlife on our doorstep. The kids were so excited to find the purple chair! Arriving at the house, we immediately felt right at home. The family had thoughtfully provided Christmas stockings, baby items (cot, car seat, chairs, toys etc) and warm clothing which we were so grateful for. YouTube videos shot by Chris gave us instructions on caring for the chickens and the outdoor hot tub. We were lucky to have such seasoned exchangers so all the information was well documented and the process and logistics of the full exchange went very smoothly. Any minor household issues were resolved very quickly, and our lines of communication were crystal clear, which we have realised is the key to a good exchange. There was no shortage of things to do during our month in Jericho. We could fill every day just being at home, skating on the ice rink, feeding the chooks, playing with Bella and the cats, and walking in the woods or across the paddocks. When we did decide to venture further, in every direction there was somewhere to visit or something to do. Close to home we enjoyed walking and sledding in Underhill National Park, exploring Burlington and, of course, skiing at Smuggs. We put Elsie (age 18 mths) in the childcare based at the mountain, which I cannot recommend highly enough. The staff are lovely and caring, but it gave the older kids and adults some much needed time to hit the slopes. Not as close, but still accessible, was Boston and Montreal which we had a couple of days to explore (and go to basketball and football games!). Every day we pinch ourselves that we had this opportunity. Growing up in tropical Queensland, it is very rare to experience a seven week winter and living in the snow, rather than just visiting, gave us a very real experience. We just wish we had more time! Finally, we loved becoming friends with the Marcus family. They took good care of our property and on our return the house was immaculate and dinner left in the fridge. Our door will always be open for them and their children to visit in the future. We would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful family if you are considering an exchange in Vermont. Thank you.
