We love sailing : if you have any sailing opportunity, don't hesitate to contact us !
We are Australians but we have lived in South East Asia for a very long time, so a trip to Europe was very special. Prior to this home swap we spent a week in London and a week in Paris. This area was absolutely lovely; quiet with some lovely walks and so much to do. We drove to the Somme Valley, through small towns, saw a local circus, visited Chantilly, a fantastic castle and did many wonderful small day trips. The home was warm and very comfortable. Catherine had someone meet us at the station and help us settle in. This was a really special part of our trip and one which took us away from the cities and tourist traps. We loved the stone streets, local water fountain across the street, gardens and quaint churches. It was all even more picture perfect then we could imagine. Catherine had left us a wealth of information regarding where to eat, where to go and how to get things we needed. Thanks and merci....
We had planned a home exchange last year with Andrew and Donna. When they were at our place, we were very pleased to have hosted such respectful people. Unfortunately, we've had to change our plans and haven't been able to visit them yet. Anyway Andrew and Donna are very helpful people, always ready to give information when they are asked to. It was very nice exchanging emails with them ! Hope to meet them soon ! Catherine and Jean-Luc
La vraie France! THIS is it. This is an quintessentially historic and lovely country home AND it's most comfortable as well. The interior design and decoration look absolutely spectacular -- with wonderful taste and refinement. And the garden and quaint town of Mello are terrific as well. This is our 6th trip to France -- but easily it's one of the best as well as one of our favorite exchanges (of over 55 now). We also found it quite easy to visit the many nearby and lovely towns and small cities like Beauvais, Senlis, Chantilly, and Compiegne. And from the nearby small city of Creil we easily parked the car and took the commuter train directly into Paris (three times, during our two-week exchange). An altogether PERFECT exchange. Plus -- Catherine speaks and writes excellent English and was in constant communication to make sure everything came about perfectly.
What a wonderful homeexchange we've had with Leslie and Joe ! First I must say that before concluding the swap, we've had very nice email exchanges in which we could feel that they were really easy-going persons, always available to answer any questions. We've had the chance to meet each other in France (only one evening, a bit short) but we immediately realized we expected the same in an exchange : trust and sharing. When we arrived at their lovely home in Mill valley, we were amazed by the view : SPECTACULAR ! Nicely decorated, full of books, we were impressed and felt immediately at home. Before arranging the swap, we were a bit worried because we were 2 couples and Joe told me there was only one bedroom and one couch downstairs. But it was just perfect, the house is big enough to host 2 couples. Joe left us many maps and fliers sothat it helped us a lot to discover the region which is fantastic. Mill Valley is just 20 mn driving from San Francisco (We never get bored crossing the GORGEOUS Golden Gate Bridge) and there are plenty of lovely towns in the surroundings such as Sausalito, Tiburon, Bolinas... we enjoyed many hikes from the house as well ( Mount Tam, Muir woods...) . Leslie left us her shopping card number as well which permitted us to benefit from the discounts in the nearby supermarket Safeway. To put it in a nutshell, we can say that it was a terrific exchange, thanks to Joe and Leslie who are really experienced and wonderful exchangers ! For sure we'll stay in contact !
For our first Home Exchange, we hit the jackpot! Catherine and Jean-Luc have a most comfortable, well-decorated, solid, historic stone house in the most charming tiny medieval village! We were able to have three different vacations during the 2012-2013 Christmas-New Year's holidays: 1) relaxing in the lovely house with reading, listening to music, and strolling through the immediate countryside, enjoying the food purchased in the boulangeries, cheese-farm and artisan Butcher-shop/delicatessen in nearby Cires le Mello; 2) taking easy day-trips, using their car and accurate GPS to nearby cathedral towns; and 3) taking the train into Paris to attend the ballet, opera, museums, gardens and concerts--and to shop on New Year's Day along the Champs Elysees. It's an easy trainride to the Gare du Nord--with direct connections to the Metro. The Lefevre family is gracious, thoughtful, cordial and welcoming. They were careful to provide us with everything we needed to guarantee a pleasant stay in their home, and they were careful and respectful with our home and autos. They will return to our California village again this summer and we, now considering them good friends, look forward to sharing a part of that adventure with them. We would rate their home as a 12 on a scale of 10. Many thanks, Catherine and Jean-Luc...
As our daughter was an aupair in Millvalley, we decided to find an exchange there for christmas 2012. We contacted Michael and Jane and very rapidly arranged a swap. They invited our daughter for lunch once sothat they could explain her everything about the house, that was a great idea ! We met them at the airport in Paris and spent 2 days altogther before leaving for the US. It was a great pleasure, Michael and Jane being very easy-going persons, we really had a good time, showing them around and sharing meals ! When we arrived in Mill valley, we discovered a very charmful and comfortable house, surrounded by beautiful redwood trees in a very quiet area ! The fridge was full of local products... nice attention. My daughter spent a lot of her time playing on the numerous pianos (5 if I remember welll) ! In 15 mn driving, we were in SF, each time crossing the magnificient "Golden Gate Bridge" ! All the towns surrounding the bay are also very beautiful. The atmosphere there is very relaxing and we felt safe everywhere we went to. Mike and Jane lent us their hybrid car and we appreciated it a lot especially when we went to Yosemite Park, they even lent us their chains. We celebrated Christmas and New year's day at home with our daughter, her host family and other aupairs and enjoyed the warmth and the comfort of the house. It was just a wonderful exchange, one of the best we've had. It was Jane and Michael's first swap : we could have thought they had done many others before ! As we go back to SF in July, we're now just impatient to meet our new friends again !
