We went to stay in Amsterdam in August 2012, and had a wonderful time. This is the perfect destination for people with teenage children - Amsterdam is beautiful and historic, with lots of interesting places to go, there are many restaurants either in the centre of Amsterdam, or within walking distance of the house. We went to lots of museums, and would recommend the Anne Frank museum and Van Gough. Pre-booking tickets on the web site saved us large queues, and is recommended. The canal was so much fun to swim in, it was very clean, and a constant source of fun and interest. The family even went to the bother of hiring an extra canoe, so my son and his friend who came with us could go off on a canoe trip together. We also loved the bikes - we are not an especially athletic family, but really enjoyed the easy opportunities to cycle (everything is so flat!) it really added an unexpected dimension to our trip. The house was lovely, very clean, modern and comfortable, and we spent some evenings in just watching films on the large tv. We would be very happy to do this exchange again, and would recommend it. We met Richard, Petra and their children at Bristol airport as we returned home, and they were very nice, and seemed to have had a nice time. We also swapped cars, and found that our house and car had been very well looked after. Good bye Amsterdam, we will definitely be back! The Bromells xx

What we said about Abigail's house:

We went to Thornford in August 2012. We had a very good time. Fam. Bromell has a beautiful and characteristic family house. We loved the large garden with so many flowers and butterflies, and a hammock to dream away while seeing the sheep graze! Thornford is a small and quiet village - with pub and small store - 5 minutes from Sherborne with its old abbey, castles

We exchanged our home in Paris with Richard and Petra in Amsterdam in August 2012, and we were delighted with their home and their beautiful , original, modern, and practical house . 5 minutes from the supermarket, it is located just 15 minutes by tram from the center. Also we took the bikes and made ??trips to Amsterdam and surroundings. The exchange was done without any problem. We met Petra, Richard and their children at the end of the stay, and it was very sympathetic to share our experiences together. The house is very light and pleasant. Having parking is also an advantage because parkings in Amsterdam can be very expensive. After our visit to the city, my girls loved swimming in the canal and played with kayaks. A serious and caring family, we felt at home and keep a beautiful memory of this exchange.

What we said about Pilar's house:

We visited Couilly-Pont-aux-Dames in August 2012. The house is a wonderful, charming family home. The huge garden adds to the rural feeling. At the same time several big supermarkets are at five minutes drive, Disneyland at fifteen minutes and you are in the centre of Paris in less than 40 minutes. The contacts with Pilar were very cordial, and it was very nice to meet Pilar and daughters on our last day. They took excellent care of our home and it was just as we left it. We can very much recommend Pilar's home as your quiet base for the 'buzzing' Disneyland and Paris!

Hi everybody, We are just back from Amsterdam and we spent 2 fabulous weeks for many reasons. Amsterdam is very attractive with all its channels(canaux) and its thousand bikes everywhere!. We have liked particulary the Anne Franck museum and the Riskjmuseum. The life in Amsterdam is hectic and there is numerous and varied resturants there. The North Sea is also very attractive with its typical'villages (volendam, Edam, dugerdam) and people welcoming. Rotterdam worth seeing with its gigantic commercial harbor and beautiful center. Without forgetting Gouda for its cheese and its culinary specialities. Petra and Richard are people very sympathics and accommodating. I'Burg is about 15min by tram to the center and we all loved the kayac trips in the channels(canaux) around the house.Excellent for arms'muscles! Their house is very luminous and confortable... We met them at the beginning of the exchange and it was a pleasant moment. It will doubtless be one of our best exchanges of house that will stay in our memories. Thank you again, Christophe

What we said about Christophe's house:

We had a great time in Burcin. Aude en Christophe’s house is a comfortable home in a very rural setting. You can completely relax at the pool, or walk right into the surrounding hills on any of the numerous hiking paths. Furthermore we visited several local markets, enjoying the pace of rural life. And a big city like Lyon is also just an hour away. We drove to Chamonix-Mt. Blanc (2 hour drive), and were impressed by the views from Aguille du Midi. The contacts were very friendly, and our house and plants were perfectly taken care of. Thank you Aude and Christophe for a great exchange!

We had the pleasure to meet the Keijzer family when collecting them from the hotel and showing around our property. As this was our very first home exchange we were pretty nervous, but they were so friendly that after meeting them we became relaxed about it all. Their home in IJburg was very exciting with lots of interesting features such as high ceilings and huge windows. IJburg itself felt like a little village and our children could roam around freely. The floating decking area provided great fun for the children for fishing and supping - and as a place for the parents to relax at the lovely summer evenings. We often had breakfast and dinner at the front of the house where there is a cosy seating area. IJburg itself provided plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling and the city beach was great. The North-sea beaches were also in easy reach and the city of Amsterdam itself is only a short trip with the tram. Many Thanks to Richard, Petra, Mo and Don to make this a brilliant holiday and a very pleasant first experience with Home Exchange !!

What we said about Tsjerk & Resy's house:

Marchbank Cottage is a true bird paradise. Located perfectly at the border of the Pentland Hills Regional Park and with a direct bus connection to Edinburgh, taking you into the center within half an hour. We enjoyed the wonderful nature, the lovely house equipped with all comforts and the many cultural possibilities in Edinburgh and surroundings. The garden has several terraces and around the house there are many activities for children. On arrival we were welcomed friendly by Tsjerk, Resy, Renske and Sybe. They explained how to take care of the animals (chickens, rabbits and pygmy goats), we felt a little like farmers ... a fun experience. Tsjerk en Resy, thank you again for this wonderful exchange.

We had a great exchange with Richard and Petra and their kids in July 2014. IJburg is a calm, peaceful oasis in busy Amsterdam--a new island neighborhood just east of Centraal Station with quick access to all that the city offers, but also a place to relax and keep away from the crowds. We loved biking IJburg's quiet streets and the nearby countryside, and we also loved having Tram 26 a couple of blocks away when we wanted to visit the bustling older parts of Amsterdam. Petra and Richard's house is modern, clean, and full of light, with a terrace full of flowers in front and a floating dock in the canal out back. We enjoyed having this wonderful swimming pool right outside the door and watching the daily parade of paddleboarders and boats passing by. (Friends at home were surprised to hear that you can swim in a canal in the city of Amsterdam--but this canal is very inviting for swimmers....) The IJmeer and city beach are also a short walk away. Our exchange and all our communications were smooth and enjoyable. Petra, Richard, Mo, and Don took excellent care of our home, plants, and pets, and we had a great time getting to know IJburg from their beautiful, conveniently located home. We highly recommend this exchange!

What we said about Carolyn and Mike's house:

Sitting on the deck, looking out over nothing but trees, with the regular hum of hummingbirds: it’s hard to believe you’re only an hour from Grand Central Station. But you are. The house with cathedral ceiling in the living room has a “cabin in the woods” feeling, but in fact is a really nice family home with three bedrooms and ample space. We did some sightseeing in the Hudson Valley and had several beautiful hikes (including parts of the Appalachian Trail). On hot days the nearby lake was a nice swimming possibility. And we visited New York City of course, only to be amazed of the contrast with this bird’s paradise at day trip distance. The communication with Carolyn and Mike was excellent, and they took great care of our home and car. Thanks again Carolyn, Mike and Harriet for a great exchange!

We are a family of 4 and had great experience exchanging with Petra and Richard. Very nice family we managed to meet on their arrival to London with 2 lovely children. They looked very well after our house! The communication before and during the exchange was excellent (with tips and information sent during our stay when needed). Petra and Richard did their very best to make us welcome in their house. All well prepared on our arrival with lots of information and tips. The house is in perfect location (Iburg), extremely quiet and only 15 mm direct from city center (central station). The tramway stop is 3 minutes from the house! Modern house with all we needed and more with super confortable, huge beds! transport by tram is easy. 3 minutes walk from their house are big supermarket and nice little food shop such as bakery, excellent butcher and wine shop. You can walk along the sea in 5 minutes from where we saw New Year fireworks!!! Thank you for this fantastic exchange and hope to see you soon again in London any time! Best Regards Jerzy, Bethan Ioan and Stan

What we said about jerzy's house:

We had a great exchange with Jerzy and Bethan in December 2014. The house is a nice family home with all comforts, a perfect place to come home to after a day in the busy city centre. We really liked the neighborhood: the street is rather quiet, while around the corner there are numerous restaurants, grocery stores and other shops. And with the Piccadilly Line at 5 minutes walk and bus 29 around the corner, all sights are easily reachable. We loved meeting Jerzy, Bethan, Ioan and Stan when we arrived; they showed us their home and were great hosts. And when we came home our house was just like we left it. We highly recommend an exchange with this very kind family!

We had a fabulous time in Amsterdam. The home is cosy and sunny with an great view from the living room towards the little canal, where you can take a swim or even take the boat to the next restaurant. IJburg is a little bit outside of the center of the city but the tramway comes very often and only takes 15 Minutes to the central station. Richard and Petra are very nice people who left our apartment in a perfect state. ALl in all it was a great exchange without any problems. 5 Stars

What we said about Martin's house:

We had a great time in Berlin. The apartment is very modern, spacious and light, with a nice balcony/terrace looking out over a family park adding to the feeling of ‘space’. It’s in a nice neighborhood with many cafes, shops and restaurants. All major Berlin sights are reached easily: e.g. Alexander Platz is only 10 minutes away by bike or tram. The contact with Martin and Kathrin was very good, and they took great care of our home. We can very much recommend an exchange with this very nice family. Thanks again Martin and Kathrin!

We spent a wonderful time in a fantastic house just beside one of the thousands water canals around and in Amsterdam and with a floating terrace... that was the highlight for the kids. Petra and Richard are very kind and extremly helpful- they even ordered a mechanic for our broken car...thank you so much for that! IJburg is a very new and modern area on top position: very close to the centre of the town and just in five minutes by bike at the beach. We made varied trips, visited museums, the zoo, Efteling (Netherlands biggest amusement park), enjoyed the town, ... we really loved it and we recommend a swap with Petra and Richard only our best friends!:-) Thanks again!

What we said about Res's house:

A very modern, large and comfortable home with a delightful swimming pool and very kind and helpful owners – and neighbors. At the edge of a village in a valley, with all kinds of shops, two lakes and lots of possible activities close by. We made several very beautiful hikes, even a two-day trip to a “Berghütte”. We had a great holiday at this wonderful spot and totally recommend an exchange with this kind family. Thanks again Res and Sybille!
