We successfully arranged multiple exchanges when we lived in Portland, Oregon and have now completed 5 in our new location in San Luis Obispo, California. Rob & I prefer to exchange because it allows us to live more like a "local" when we visit an area.
Rob & Mary retired to San Luis Obispo, moving from Portland, Oregon in 2009. After training as an attorney, Rob spent most of his career working for nonprofit business associations advancing downtown revitalization in Portland. He was immediately drawn to San Luis by its healthy downtown core, its embracing of biking and buses as alternative modes of transportation and its largely successful efforts to create a greenbelt of open space around the city. An avid amateur photographer, SLO has provided a new photographic palette to spark Rob's creativity.
Mary is a retired licensed clinical social worker/family counselor. She loves to hike, take pictures, play mahjongg and bake delicious confections. They both love to travel, having visited six continents and all 50 states in the US. Still on their bucket list: Machu Picchu, Anarctica, more islands in the South Pacific, more of Western Europe, and the 13 American Major League Baseball Parks they have yet to visit.

We would like to explore Lake Superior, Isle Royale and the Boundary Waters area.
We would love an opportunity to stay a month or longer in Paris or another area of France.
Hiking is a favorite activity, so a place where we could explore trails nearby would be great.
Claudia & Kurt's home is wonderfully comfortable; a short walk to the shores of Lake Tahoe. A short drive to hiking trails along the lake's edge and minutes to shopping and restaurants. We had a great visit.
