Hamburg and Lueneburg are calling!
We are a family of two adults and four children (all daughters) at the age of 54, 48, 17, 13, 10 and 8 years.
We have lived in this house for ten years after we had it restored and brought into shape again. Gerd is a stay-at-home-dad and a jazz fan. Gerd looks after the girls when I, Corinna, work at the University of Lueneburg (department of teacher education). In the afternoon we both enjoy family life.
There are two cats, too. They are Ragdolls with a great character. We would prefer them to stay in the house.
Our Collie dog usually stays with her breeder when we travel.
We have travelled the world with and without children. We speak English very well and a bit of French.
We have experienced ten home exchanges so far and are thankful for all of them. We will treat your house and property with the utmost respect. All our daughters know how to behave well in another family´s home. Our oldest daughter might have different plans, so our family most likely consists of five persons when travelling, sometimes only four even.
We are willing to look after cats and small pets, maybe even a nice dog.
We have found exchange partners for the year 2015 and for spring 2016. We are now open for non-simultaneous exchanges (our B&B rooms) and an exchange in autumn 2016.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
October 1 — October 15, 2016
A simultaneous exchange is preferred but not essential. There are four B&B rooms, a guest kitchen and two bathrooms available all year round (if plans are made early enough).
We love to cook, find new kitchen assessories and try new recipes. Therefore our kitchen is well equipped. During the last years I have learned to bake rollfondant cakes and enjoy creating my own designs for special occasions. I also create candy bars (see photos).
We enjoy a cup of really good coffee or espresso. Our latest kitchen machine is a Nestle tea maker producing surprisingly good tea without us bothering about the perfect timing.
Since there are two kitchens in our house, we can easily cook food for many guests. During summer, we all sit either in the garden or in the big hall to enjoy it.
We stayed at this wonderful house for two weeks. It's a very charming, historic house right in the heart of Luneburg. You can start shopping at the doorstep - Luneburg is wonderful! There are many attractions to visit not far away, first of all the well-known "Lüneburger Heide". The train station is a 5-minute-walk away, and direct trains take you to Hamburg in about half an hour. The family was very nice and we felt very welcome. Our children loved the many toys in the house. After the exchange, we found our house as we had left it - clean and tidy. When there was a question, we got help from Corinna in no time. The organization before our stay also ran smoothly.
(English, German further down) We spent two wonderful weeks in this lovely region south of Basel and all of us enjoyed it very much. Roman and Andrea had prepared everything very well. Their house and their cats gave us a warm welcome. The house and the garden are charming and well kept. The neighbours are nice, one can see wineyards from the windows, Basel is only half an hour away, the kids could exeperience a solarbob, take the scooter down the mountain and follow dinosaur steps (real ones!) while we adults enjoyed many historical towns and their cafés. There was nothing to be missed for an enjoyable holiday. Back home everything went well, too. Our cats´ fur is looking better than ever, our house was returned in the same perfect condition.
We hosted Corinna and her family during April 2015. At the last moment we could not go to their place, but from what we can value they are just the right family to exchange with! Communication flowed easily and they were very flexible for all our changes and arrangements, the house was clean and tidy, with fresh flowers and "thank you" drawings from the girls, and our cat was happy.... We highly recommend an exchange with them!! Thank you Corinna!
We stayed one week in Sonja´s great apartment and enjoyed every single day. Communication to prepare our stay was perfect. Sonja furnished and decorated the huge apartment in a very nice and comfortable yet modern way and everything was spotlessly clean. We loved the pink and the blue bathroom, the huge Kandinsky painting, the grand piano and the orange kitchen. The house is situated in an upper class area of Milan with very easy access to downtown Milan (15 minutes by tram, tram stop only 2 minutes away). The kids enjoyed the playground in the neighbourhood, Italian ice-cream, the Scala performance, the cathedral´s roof top, Da Vinci´s Last Supper and the tram rides. We were happy that they liked a big city. Sonja´s lovely cat Greg certainly added to our well-being, such a great character. Fortunately we were able to meet Sonja, her husband and her son shortly before our departure. We are very much looking foward to welcoming them in our house next year. We highly recommend to exchange with this nice family in such an interesting city full of life and culture.
We had a lovely stay in Lüneburg. The house is amazingly big and charming, in the centre of the city but yet so quiet. We knew very little about Lüneburg, but it was in so many ways surprising: architecture, market, nature, shops, restaurants and bars. Taking the train to Hamburg was very easy and only 30 min. Corinna gave us a lot of useful suggestions about where to go and what to do. The communication went very smoothly. They took good care of our home and our pets; we on the other hand enjoyed their two cats a lot. When we arrived in their home and afterwards returned in our home, there was always a little gift (e.g. bread, a lavender plant, ...) which made us feel welcome. Thank you for a wonderful exchange!
This was another very pleasant home exchange. The correspondence before the exchange went smoothly, fast and we got all information needed. In fact, during our stay, we had a very nice one-mail-per-day-exchange to offer advice and help in any ways (riding possibilities for the kids etc.). The house is charming due to its living and dining area opening up to the garden. The garden is facing south and is long stretched, lovely! Our children very much enjoyed taking care of the two rabbits and one cat and being allowed to play with the daughter´s PLAYMOBIL. Gent aswell as Brugge and Brussels (only 45 minutes drive away) are great cities to explore and even the coast is only 50 minutes by car away. And, of course, we loved all the chocolate shops and Belgian waffles! Hanna, Marc and Emma took care of our house, the rabbits and the cats in the best possible way, thank you! We can recommend these home exchangers to everyone.
We began exchanging Emails with Corrina and Gerd many months ago and immediately their Emails imbued us with both enthusiasm and confidence. As a non-synchronous exchange, they came to our house in Queensland first in July/August (2015) and we met them on arrival. They confirmed our earlier formed opinions of being a friendly and worldly couple and we left them our house with great confidence, and this was confirmed on our return at the end of the exchange period. The house was very clean and tidy, there was a bowl of fresh flowers as a special thank you, and their lovely girls had drawn their own little personal thankyou notes. We are looking forward to our vist to Lunenburg in May next year.
We had a wonderful time in Lüneburg. The exchange home is great for a family with kids. Our kids enjoying taking care of the rabbits in the garden and the cats. The location is great. The house is located in a quiet street, but within a 2 minute walk you are in the heart of the old city. In the morning we got freshly baked bread from the bakery, and we enjoyed our breakfast with live trumpet music from the church next door. The city is great for a visit. A must see is the very old city hall, and the Lüneburger heath. By train it is easy to visit Hamburg. We can really recommend an exchange with this very nice family.
We just returned from our wonderful two-week-holiday in this house near Rome. We can really recommend it! Upon our arrival the host surprised us with selfmade spaghetti carbonara, what a treat after eight hours by car with four children, thank you! The house was spotlessly clean and everything was well prepared. We had chosen the house due to the tasteful modern furnishing and the many balconies and terrasses. We later found out how easy it was to take the train into the very center of Rome. But we also enjoyed the nearby scenery and sights: Cerveteri with its ancient Etruscan graves, Anguillara with the beautiful lake and the many typical Italian villages with at least one great gelateria for our children. The house is not far from the Mediterranean Sea, too, it is simply a 30-minute-drive. Needless to say Rome is worth a trip and we were happy to have seen it in March with less crowds of tourists (including us). The host was always available by mail for any questions and offered great help. We were sorry to leave the Italian spring and found minus temperatures and snow back home. Again: thanks for a wonderful holiday we won
We made our exchange during fall 2015 and I must say we had a great time. The house is ideally located in old Luneburg city center, everything is easily accessible. We made also a lot of trips to surrounding areas like Hamburg, Lubeck, Wolfsburg or Luneburger Heide. The apartment was clean and well prepared. The cats were nice with no big issue to take care of them. I would like to thank Corinna once again for her perfect organisation. Cheers Lubos, Jana, Janicka, Lukas and Tomas Majer
