As a couple who have chosen to enter early retirement (semi in my case) our desire is to see as much of the world as possible before we get too old or tired of traveling! We have travelled extensively as we have friends and relatives all over the globe, but find the best way to get to know a country is live there like the locals:). We have 2 adult children who, although not living at home since years, have always assisted us in looking after the apartment in our absence, but on hearing of house exchange from people we met in Australia we thought why not...sounds good! We are 58 and 62 years of age, retired banker and semi-retired translator and speak German, English, Italian...we can also get by in French and Spanish at a push! I grew up in East Africa and England and my husband in Italy. We met in Switzerland...and decided to stay put as its pretty convenient to be at the heart of Europe, with Germany, Austria, France and Italy as neighbours offering additional culture and places of interest to see.
