Throw in the warm pool, sun drenched climate, beautiful home, fantastic location and charming owners and you have the perfect recipe for a truly magical holiday. We have just returned from what I can only describe as, 'my perfect piece of paradise' at Palm Desert. John and Jill (the owners) were so friendly and accommodating. They helped us with anything we needed and were on hand to offer advice and suggestions, no matter how trivial our needs may have been. They were never intrusive and always respected our privacy and family time - they were the perfect hosts. The house was immaculately clean, comfortable and just charming - a real home from home experience, if not better! Furnished beautifully, very tasteful, yet totally relaxed. We wanted for nothing as everything was catered for, including a kitchen with every piece of equipment you could ever need, to Wi-Fi with a computer (a must for any 16yr old daughter), an x-box with games (ideal for our 14yr old son) new bikes for us to use and explore the area with, great size TV with plenty of DVD's in the cupboard for a great family film night, on the odd occasion we were in! The heated pool and gardens were kept immaculately clean and tidy. It was an absolute pleasure relaxing in this little oasis on the sun loungers with a good book (also supplied by the owners). Palm Desert has so much to offer families from over 100 stunning golf courses to one of the best shopping areas in California, (comparable to Rodeo Drive) but better in my opinion!, to a new indoor go-karting race track, skate boarding park, fun desert quad biking adventure course for the bigger boys, spa's and nail salons galore for me and my daughter, the biggest shopping outlet was just 40 mins drive away, we have even been to. The breathtaking scenery, surrounding Palm Desert, offered challenging hike & bike trails and the 'Living Desert Animal Scanty' was fun to visit and we particularly all enjoyed meeting the Armadillos. Palm Desert also offered an absolute plethora of fine eateries and quirky diners, sadly, we just didn't have time to try them all, but boy did we try! This house is ideally based too for exploring California too. We took the opportunity to also visit Los Angles (2 .5hrs drive) Vegas (4.5hrs drive) Sea world at San Diego (3hrs drive) and San Francisco (8hrs drive) we stayed overnight in Santa Barbra (3hrs drive) though to break up the journey which was a great call as the area was absolutely delightful. I don't want to harp on about this property too much as I want availability to go back next year, but honestly, look no further if you want an incredible welcome, comfortable/relaxed home in a stunning exciting location - this holiday home really does have it all!

What we said about Jay & Donna 's house:

What to say about LaMirabelle? If you have a large family or just want to get away from it all, this is definitely the place for you. The house sleeps about 14 and has a very large common living/dining area perfect for family meals and fun. The kitchen is well outfitted for serving lots of hungry people or if you just want to dabble in creating French cuisine and the playroom upstairs is perfect for the small ones with all kinds of toys and games. My husband and I felt sad that we did not bring our grandchildren. The outdoor area includes a large yard with a play area for the children and we took advantage of the large pool and deck area. Our bedroom was quite comfortable with a good mattress and pillows (always important to us!) and the bathroom was ensuite for convenience. We had a rental car during our stay and found that a car was definitely a must for getting out and about. However, you can easily walk into Saint Benoist sur Mer where the hiking/biking trails nearby take in the scenery along the river. The grocery is a convenient 5-minute drive and some dining options are also available within a 10-minute drive. Our visit was in April/May, which made it still a bit chilly for spending too much time at the beach, although the beaches are wonderful. We could see that visiting the Vendee during the summer season would be spectacular. Your hosts have left you a wealth of information about places to go and sights to see. You couldn’t ask for more attentive and friendly hosts. You’ll feel like family – we did! Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers and families with young childre
