Looking for new friends !
We are a family of 5 non smokers, with a young female charming Labrador which is kept away during your stay.
My wife is the only woman in the house!
One of the things we both appreciate in our professions is the contact with people and home swapping goes in that direction since we would like to meet new people and hoping getting new friends. We love new experiences and would appreciate being in contact with locals during our stay. But most of all, we would like to meet you, our exchange partner.
Véronique is a great person to live with. She is a good wife, a good mother and a good friend.
That's why we are together since 30 years.
She likes family activities, pets, nature, computer, tv, home decoration and... to sleep.
And just like me, she likes good food with a glass of beer.
I'm playing outdoor and indoor football (when I'm not injured...), i like to read, listen to the music, the computer, tv, the company of friends and to visit museums and nice architecture.
So far, we have made 10 succesful echanges.
We are usually travelling with 2 or 3 of our children. Therefore, we are ideally looking for places to satisfy everyone.Architecture and museums for me, natural sites for Véronique, water (beach/swimming pool) for Cédric. Some sport activities for my eldest.
Another good experience of homeexchange and another country we liked. Bruges, Gant and Bruxelles are typical cities so amazing to discover. We were very happy to share this experience with a nice family
We had a great time in this region and in their home. They are nice people you can trust. Thank you Marie-Christine and Alain
The first thing to say about this home exchange was that it was super-easy to set-up; Bernard and I exchanged a flurry of emails during the first few days of our original contact and within a very short time period we decided to make a firm commitment to each other. In the weeks that followed we continued to communicate regularly via email and Bernard suggested we might meet up. We agreed to this and thus we invited Bernard, his wife Veronique and their three teenage boys to come and stay one night with us in our house in the UK (right at the start of our home exchange). This was the first time we had ever met any of our fellow home exchangers face to face and it turned out to be the most wonderful experience. Bernard, Veronique and their three boys are all very nice articulate people and we were thankful that they could speak very good English as our French was very rusty! In terms of the actual home exchange, we had a lovely time in Belgium. The house itself was spacious and very well equipped and it was ideally situated in a quiet town on the outskirts of Brussels. The nearest train station is around 10-15 minutes’ walk away and from there you can take a train directly into the centre of Brussels which is a very nice city indeed. The family left behind lots of tourist information for us to look through and even left us a map of Brussels with a pre-defined route marked out for us to follow so we could take in all the main sites – this was very useful. Aside from Brussels we also visited a few historical places including Ypres. The Menin Gate Memorial and Flanders Fields Museum are must see places for all British people. All in all we spent a nice 10 days relaxing in Belgium and we would not hesitate to recommend this exchange family. As well as being lovely people and them having a lovely home to exchange they also did a great job of looking after our home. Kind regards, Dean, Kate and Phoebe x
First of all, I had a great 'feeling' corresponding with Dean. He is very reactive and detailed in his answers. Consequently, I proposed that we would spend some hours to meet. He accepted to fit us in his house for a night while they were still there It was a good idea because, as supposed, we have met a nice family. Secondly, I must say that I have been impressed by the explanations given in his map about his house and facilities in the neighbourhood. They have a new, spacious and comfotable home. Besides in a quiet place. We have appreciated the 4 rooms and 2 bathrooms since we came the 5 of us. They have a huge shopping center nearby which has been very convenient to do all our summer purchases. Next to local sites, I advise to visit Liverpool and Manchester. Not so close but worth visiting. Make sure that you prepare jogging routes for them since they are keen about it. We had a good time there.Go ahead and exchange with them! Bernard
Hello, We were looking for some warm weather and we got a 35° in average. And the swimming pool next door was really enjoyable. It's a pretty huge one, well maintained and not with too many people. At the beginning of the afternoon, we even thought that it was a private one. We have appreciate this spacious and comfortable house. We enjoyed their 4 bedrooms and their 2 bathrooms. Every day we could have our breakfast ousdoors in the shade. We had also the company of their dog we agreed to dog sit. What suprised me is that after a couple of days, 5 kids of the village came at our house to present themselves and to meet my sons. I found this behaviour fantastic and it gave my kids the opportunity to hang around with locals. If you have kids, I'm sure they'll do the same with yours if you come during the summer. They live in a complex which is only accessible to the inhabitants with a remote control opening the gate. There are 60 houses and the first city is 5 km away. Therefore, we even can speak about a community. Myself, I have plaid tennis and football with them. We have been able to do some rafting for the fisrt time and canyoning for the second time. If you have kids or if you love the swimming pool, that's the place to be. Bernard
Very comfortable house, very well situated to visit Brussels, Bruges and Gand Bernard and Véronique who are very nice had prepared for us a very warm welcome. Beers and very original glasses. All the documentations on Belgium were at our disposal. It is the very good place which we recommend ardently.
We just returned from a delightful stay in Saint-Malo. We were a little concurned about the weather since we were there at the very end of the winter, but it turned out great! We have been able to visit 'Le Mont Saint-Michel' which is a Unesco site. This must be seen once in a lifetime! We have walked a lot to sightsee the area. I strongly recommend the city of Dinan. Walking around the city of Dinard was also worth it. We went to Cancale where oyster or crab lovers will enjoy the place. We weren't able to enjoy the beaches, but there have some which are fabulous. One thing which needs to be mentioned is that they have there the biggest difference in tides in the world. Twelwe meters! Rather spectacular. On our way back home, we went on the beaches of Nomandy to take a peace of history by visiting German blockauses of the second world war or memorials. It's my second time there and it's always moving to be at the place where it all took place. It's about 2 hours from Saint-Malo but if you haven't been there, it's worth the trip. I have to add that we managed to meet Sylvie and Jean-François. I must say that they were nice people and very welcoming. They did all they could to have us a nice stay there. They also took good care of our home. Bernard
Saludos Montse y Juan Carlos
For once, we were off the beaten tracks since we've spent part of our holidays in the mountains instead of the traditional stay next to the beach... And we did a good job, since the nature was just outside the apartment! We did some great promenades in the neigborhood (we recommand Ordesa national park). We have been able to meet Juan Carlos and Montse. It was a pleasant moment of sharing. We were happy to be, for ever, their first 'foreign exchange since their 2 first were with fellow citizens. Who knows, we even might organize a football match next year between our 2 veterans teams. If you hesidate in spending 2 weeks or more in the mountains, you could do like us. Having two exchanges in a row in the same country. In so doing, you don't get bored since you change of home and of environement. In summary, a good experience. Bernard
IT'S AN INCREDIBLE STORY. That's what HomeExchange is all about! I am very - very happy that we found each other. I first contacted Bernard, he sent me an offer for June, but I have replied that we already had agreed on an exchange with a Belgian family for August. And only a few minutes away from their home! So, then Bernard invited us for a drink while we'll be there. Good idea! But we can still continued our correspondence after it. We talked about a lot of things, about the public transport, because I said we will fly and being without car in Belgium. And then Bernard offer one of their car while we'll be there!!! We met for the first time in Belgium and immediately found a common voice! After this day we were on a bbq party in Bernard and Veronique's house and we met with their amazing 3 sons, too. They showed us Mechelen and Bernard gave guides from all interesting belgian city. I have to tell you I have never met anybody before this like he and his family. Bernard is competent, enthusiastic, open, kind and doing perfectly the HomeExchange. I have never seen such a perfect guidebooks! Belgium is really wonderful, I love very much and don't hesitate to discover if you get an offer!!! Veronique very kind and bestow upon us with everything and she is a really good chef! So, I said to Bernard our house will be empty for one week at the end of August, we go to an other holiday then, and if they want to come to Budapest, don't hesitate. And would be great if they can come earlier because will be the biggest hungarian celebration in this time and we can spend some day together before our holiday. And they bought the flight tickets! They have arrived, we waited them at the Airport and the first night we talked till 3:30 AM! That's what homeexchange is all about, really! We spent wonderful days together, and we are looking forward our next meeting! And surprise! On the last day when we arrived back home they waited us with a delicious lunch! After it we drove them to the Airport. We were sad. So, the greatest good fortune for you if this amazing family would like to organise a homeexchange with you! I'm happy, we were found friends in Belgium! Thank you Bernard, Veronique, Gaetan, Quentin and Cédric!
GREAT CITY, AMAZING FAMILY. I first contacted Judit in order to exchange at the end of June but she replied that she already had agreed on an exchange with a Belgian family for the same summer. And they would stay only a few minutes away from our home! That's why, I proposed that they would come to our house for a drink. Finally, they came for a bbq. To this, Judit replied by proposing that we could spend one week in their home at the end of August since they would be away for one week. In one of Judit's mails, she were asking about Belgian public transportation and I realized that they wouldn't have a car at their disposal during their stay in Belgium. Consequently, they would only be able to visit Brussels... I decided to land them my car for one week. Finally, Judit proposed us to come 3 days earlier in Budapest than planned because there was a big festival in town. Thus, we have been able to spend 3 days together. The first night, we talked till 3:30 AM! That's what home exchange is all about. I mean, this gives you the opportunity to meet (kind) people. I have to tell that they took us directly at the airport and that they returned one day earlier from their holiday to bring us to the airport! Amazing. Another crazy thing is that they landed us their only car and borrowed a car from one of their friends to go on holiday! We are both experienced exchangers and it has been nice to share our exoeriences. Judit has a lot of information about her home, neighbourhood and things to visit which is not always the case. Their home was comfortable and Budapest was a great city to visit. Just like Belgium, an underestimated location with many surprises. If one day, you are contacted by Judit, don't hesitate and make some room in your agenda for an exchange with this charming and respectful family. Bernard
We just came back from an exchange with an exchange with Antonio and Pili. We enjoyed staying in their home first of all because of this nice private pool. Combined with the nice weather, this vacation couldn't go wrong. We have received some documentation about things to visit and some explanation about their home and pool. They also have a outdoors BBQ which is always pleasant in the summer time. We had a welcome 'package' with different products for the first days. Antonio has always been a very reactive person when we had to correspond by internet. The very last day wasn't simultaneous which allowed us to share really nice cultural moments with this nice family. Memories to treasure. Bernard
