Hello from DC!
We are a young, French-American family of 6, who love traveling and meeting new people. Alex (dad) is a French native who has lived in the US for long enough now to have become American, too. Autumn (mom) is from Maryland but lived in Nice in college and speaks French fluently. We are both yoga teachers, but Autumn is also now a full-time Montessori teacher for children ages 3 to 6. Our kids are 8, almost 7, 4, and newborn. Our oldest is a boy named Jai who loves trains (no shortage of them to play with at our house!), legos, music (you can find nearly every instrument in our house, too!), and soccer. Zanna, our almost 7-year-old daughter, is sweet and affectionate but determined and independent, too. She loves animals, cooking, and planning parties/presents. Our next youngest is a girl, too, whose name is Sasha, which means the same thing as Alex. She's very social and knows how to assert herself. She loves singing, dancing, and pretending to be everyone's teacher. Our youngest, Tess, was born in October 2013, so we're all just getting to know this little beauty. We also have a dog named Edith, but she stays with family whenever we are away.

We would like to spend 1-6 weeks in a Spanish-speaking country this coming summer. Our children go to a bilingual Spanish/English school in DC, and we want them to have the extra exposure to Spanish over the summer.
We love trips that help us learn/perfect languages (we all speak English, French, and Spanish), meet new and interesting people, and get outside. We practice and teach yoga and also love to be outside, even when we are visiting cities. Montessori and other alternative education styles are a huge interest and passion of ours.
Amazingly central location. We used bus and Metro to get into central DC for all the sites and activities. So nice not to have to drive. Friendly neighborhood with park one block away, easy to walk to major grocery store. We enjoyed nearby Takoma Park and Jamacian restaurant nearby the house. Thanks for the homegrown tomatoes!
We had such a great time staying at Cyndi and Jeff's house in Portland! They are so organized that it was very easy to find everything, figure out how things worked, etc. And their house was so perfect for our 3 kids, with great toys and a clubhouse outside. They were also just a joy to work with in the planning of the trip. We would recommend an exchange with them 100%!
