Hello from the heart of Amsterdam!
We are a family of 4, we have 2 kids - an 8 year old boy and an 11 year old girl. We love the city life, and made a conscious choice to stay here when we had children as it's a very child-friendly city.
We both work part-time (an art historian that somehow ended up in the internet world, and an account director). We enjoy getting away on longer holidays and long weekend breaks as often as possible.
Corliz and her family exchanged their home with us in August 2013. Even though it was a very "last minute" exchange, everything worked really well from our first contact with Corliz, the 10 days living in Amsterdam and returning home to our own tidy house. Their cozy and cheerful home has a great location, we felt like native Amsterdam'ers and not like visitors or tourists. All of Corliz' tips payed off - from the detailed description of their home to the great Italian family-restaurant around the corner. The house is situated so that everything is easily accessible by either foot or public transportation; all the famous art museums are only a 10 minute stroll away, the bustle of the canals can also be reached under 10 minutes walking. Upon a long day exploring Amsterdam, we were always glad to be able to relax in their comfortable home and on their terrace/courtyard. We have spent a great exchange here and who knows ... maybe we'll come back for another one!
We had a wonderful time staying in Anja and Lars' lovely home for 9 days in July/August 2013. Their home is a very large, renovated, comfortable farmhouse with great atmosphere, in an idyllic country setting, with a huge front and back garden. The weather was amazing (we were lucky apparently), so if we weren't out exploring the countryside or beach, we spent a lot of time in the garden, sitting on the deck enjoying all the butterflies or watching the chickens roam around the yard. They also have a greenhouse with vegetables and herbs, which we could make use of. Our kids had plenty of space to run around, and they spent hours on the swing or in the hammock. Communication with Anja was very pleasant, quick, easy, helpful and Anja speaks great English. We can highly recommend this exchange to anyone. We would love to return there one day.
Summer 2013 in Amsterdam was our fist exchange and a really good surprise. The flat was absolutely central placed between the loose “De pijp” and the hip “Oud Zuid”, and the colorfully “Voldelpark”. The street though was local and quiet and many evenings we spend the night on the local cafes and restaurants, preferably by the canal. The weather was very hot during the stay, so we spent most of the time in the lovely garden, full of flowers, atmosphere and sound from the local kids in paddling pool next door. House was fully equipped with everything - the host had even bought us wine&bread, and Dutch cookies for for us. A very charming apartment with personal style. Welcoming and clean. We also had the family’s bikes that made us feel even more like locals. We highly recommend the apartment and hope to come back another year. Mette, Jacob, Marhta and Ruben

We really enjoyed staying in Mette and Jacob's beautiful apartment in Copenhagen for 8 days in July 2013. Their home is large, bright and clean. It has a great atmosphere, as it's an old renovated place with a lot of nice original features and high ceilings. And the location is ideal, a lovely and quiet neighbourhood - but still very central - with large shopping streets just around the corner, offering a wide range of shops from supermarkets to designer stores. Our kids also had a very time there, they had plenty of space to move around. We were very lucky with the weather, so we made a lot of use of the bicycles that were left for us - including a delivery bike which fitted both our kids perfectly! Communication with Mette was very pleasant, by email and by phone. We can highly recommend this exchange to anyone.
We have just returned after spending 3 weeks in this lovely home, and we were reluctant to go back to Amsterdam. This exchange has been a fantastic experience. The house is large and comfortable and very child friendly, the garden is huge with a beautiful view towards the Pyrenees mountains. Breakfast on the terrace every day with that view was amazing. There's a nice play house in the garden and a field with a few goats and chickens which was a delight for the children. And of course: the swimming pool, which was lovely and used a lot because of the hot weather. Celine's very friendly parents live next door, about 100 metres away. But the house feels completely private, you don't see each other if you don't want to. We thought it was reassuring that they lived there, in case we ever had any emergencies or needed advice. The location of the village is ideal, only 15 minutes drive from Pau airport, and the city of Pau. Yet the tranquility of this location is very relaxing. If you want to go sight seeing, great beaches (Biarritz, St Jean de Luz), mountains and plenty of beautiful cities are all reachable within a max 1.5 hours drive. Finally, we want to mention that Celine and Franck are the kindest people you can meet. They went out of their way to make this exchange exceed all our expectations. They even let us use their car, in exchange for our bicycles in Amsterdam. Despite the slight language barrier, all communication has been very pleasurable. And it was lovely meeting them at the airport, when they arrived and we left. We would thoroughly recommend this exchange to everyone!
This flat is ideally located next to the main Amsterdam museums. It is a quiet and cosy place, nicely decorated, well equipped. Corliz and Luco are very friendly and prepared our arrival with careful attention to details. Using their bikes, we really felt like Amsterdamers at home ;-)
We stayed in this lovely spacious apartment for 1 week in the last week of December 2012. It was a very good experience. The apartment is very comfortable, with an amazing kitchen and well equipped. And being at the top floor, it's tranquil and quiet. Just minutes away from Montmartre and there is a great street around the corner with a wide range of specialized food shops. The contact with the family was very pleasant. We would recommend this exchange to everyone.
We went to Corliz and Luco's home in August 2011 and had a wonderful holiday ! Their home is beautiful and cosy and their garden is splendid. We felt at home straight away. Corliz was very helpful with lots of advice on the city. We enjoyed every minute of it and would certainly go back there another time :)
We're a family of 4 and stayed in Ariane and Pierre's apartment in August of this year. We had a fantastic time. The house felt like home immediately, it's very welcoming and perfect for a family with young children, like us. The location is very good, subway stop is around the corner, supermarket across the road and the whole area is pleasant. The contact with Ariane and Pierre has been great, Ariane provides thorough information of the house and the area, which is very helpful. It has been an all-round good experience, and would love to exchange with them again in the future.
