Greetings Fellow Exchangers!
We are a family of 5 living in Charlotte, North Carolina. We've had 10 fantastic home exchange experiences and think it such a creative, resourceful, enjoyable way to travel. We've been just floored by the generosity of all of our previous hosts and have always strived to make sure they as our guests feel the same way.
We've spent many-a-night in motels, luxury hotels, cold tents, youth hostels, fancy B&Bs etc....home exchange is absolutely our favorite choice for accommodation on vacations!
Doug is a vice president at a large company in the health care industry.
Theresa homeschools the kiddos.
Our kids are happy spirits who love to read, build, dress up, create, paint, climb, explore, make picnics, pretend and work in our garden. They think "borrowing" someone else's house for a vacation is completely normal and typical!
We like to host friends and family, hike, read, hang out with our kids, check out local festivals and events, we go to see the symphony regularly etc.
We love to travel, meet new people and see new places. Foreign language and culture is extremely important to our family and we take every opportunity we can find to enrich our lives with it.
Looking forward to trading with you!

We are especially passionate about "experiences"...
A couple of examples...
-Eating local food at small mom & pop shops, finding a favorite and then returning several times throughout our trip and getting to know the people there.
-Sometimes choosing the local playground or library over big tours and excursions.
-Often prefer an urban bike ride, long walk or park bench where we can just people-watch and take it all in versus anything more official and formal that requires an entrance fee.
Just completed a very successful weekend exchange with Grace and Doug. They were gracious and friendly hosts and everything went smoothly. They have a charming and comfortable home in a great Seattle neighborhood. Thanks Grace and Doug!
Martin and Sherry are wonderful people and have a wonderful home. We slept so peacefully and so soundly because it was so warm, comfortable and quiet. The deer in the yard, the large claw-foot tub, the kitchen that just makes you want to make an apple pie, the flood of natural light....it really all was just perfect. This is the perfect place for a slow, relaxing weekend. Exchanging with the Bishops was seamless. Thanks again, Martin and Sherry for sharing your home with us!
We are just back from a lovely weekend away in the home of Theresa, Doug and Luella. Their home is lovely and quaint and is located in a quiet and safe neighborhood of beautiful character homes. The location is excellent for shopping and dining and very close to downtown Seattle. We were so busy exploring the Woodland Zoo (conveniently close by!), Pike Place Market and the Everett Children's museum that we didn't get a chance to walk the Burke-Gilman trail- which is on their door step. This exchange was easily coordinated and we were made to feel very welcome. We would recommend exchanging here- you will not regret it!
We spent a weekend at Brian and Melanie's cabin at Mt. Baker and had such a wonderful time! The cabin is nestled in the forest of a gated community and in perfect proximity to downhill skiing, back-country skiing, hikind, cycling etc. We originally planned quite an active weekend up there but that toasty fireplace meant multiple naps per day and a true R&R weekend; it is so quiet and peaceful up there! Their cabin was exactly what we needed....spacious, well-stocked, comfortable, warm - we really just loved it. It was good fun visiting the little bakeries and local shops in town - we always ran into friendly people who would tell us more about the area and things to check out, such as the very old trees at mile 44. Possibly the most fun was actually getting to meet Brian and Melanie and their two cute kiddos - we both pulled off the highway as we crossed paths to exchange keys. We loved them instantly and were not surprised at all to find they had taken excellent care of our home upon our return. Swapping with Brian and Melanie was seamless - don't miss the opportunity to visit their place at Mt Baker if you get the chance!
Doug and Theresa were the most gracious hosts. We really enjoyed our time with them at their house. They have a beautiful house. We really enjoyed their hospitality and back yard. They treated us like family. We highly recommend their home!
