We had a lovely non-simultaneous exchange with Corinne up at her spacious, Arnold, Sierra Nevada, all wood mountain cabin in a lakeside compound with its own club house just after Christmas in 2013. She was charming, arranging everything for us and getting us the key beforehand so we would be able to get into the house. When we arrived, the cleaner was already there, so she let us into the house! The area, very near the snow slopes, was utterly beautiful. The house is right on the edge of a calm, still, glistening lake. Redwoods all around the house, one growing right through the deck! Lots of space inside, rustic and glamorous at the same time. Lots of games, books, sitting areas and convenient lamps everywhere to provide reading time. Beds comfortable. Garage with sleds and bicycles. We took some of our family with us and they all had a great time hiking and riding bikes through the woods. Corinne and her husband just had their return exchange early January here at our house in Venice, more than a year later! All good.
We just returned from a wonderful week staying in Al and Rosemary's charming condo. It is in a perfect location, just minutes away from the buzz of trendy Abbot-Kinney, but far enough away from the commercial stretch to be quiet at night. The condo is very tastefully decorated, and equipped with everything you might need. It was also spotlessly clean! There are 3 or 4 small outside patios, and they are completely private, as Al and Rosemary have placed lush, tropical plants in such a way as to create a delightful barrier. The patio off the dining room offers outside dining possibilities and feels like an extra room. There is so much to do in this part of the world, and the condo is ideally located for everything L.A. Be sure to visit the nearby canals, and, of course, the beach. You can walk or ride your bike for miles along the sands. Rosemary was very good about connecting, so we felt that we knew them both by the time we "cashed in" our part of the exchange. Maybe it's that Aussie friendliness!
