We stayed in Shinsei right after the Labor Day weekend ...

Josh from Atlanta said

We stayed in Shinsei right after the Labor Day weekend this year (2011) and had a spectacular time. The pictures don't do the Shinsei justice. The house is very nicely renovated and feels like you are staying in an expensive Japenese resort while you are there. But, it's better than that, because you are literally right on top of your own private beach!!!!! The beach is spectacular. We had the best sea shell hunting we've ever had in our lives. Our friend were amazed. The water was beautiful and we had the beach to ourselves. Great surf fishing as well. The house comes with all you need, bikes, beach chairs, etc. Topsail is great destination which we had never been to. It's a nice blend of feeling like that old throwback North Carolina beach town but also had everything you needed in terms of restaurants and seafood stores, ice cream shops, etc. You can buy the seafood right off the boats or go to the local crab shack and have them prepared with lots of Old Bay seasoning. The location of Shinsei is perfect It's far enough from town in Topsail that you feel the peace and quiet, but close enough that you can ride your bike downtown for dinner or ice cream or whatever. It's also close enough that you can walk down the nature preserve which is absolutely beautiful. Lori and Jim were great hosts in helping make sure our stay was great. They made all the suggestions we needed with restaurants, fresh seafood, activities, etc. On the other sie, they took great care of our home. We hope to do another exchange with them in the future. Thanks, Josh

What we said about Josh's house:

We have stayed at the Lieberman home twice now while we have visited our family in Atlanta. The photos don't lie, it is a beautiful and simply perfectly designed house. The place is impeccably furnished and maintained (we really liked the natural cleaning products.) The kids had fun running around the neighborhood as well as playing in the well equipped basement. Its situated in one of the most sought after Atlanta neighborhoods. We enjoyed walking to a couple of nice restaurants (upscale Southern Food and a cheap Noodle place, both were excellent.) But, what sets off this place the most is the positive karma left behind by the owners. These are very good, cool, fun, and giving folks; just couldn't be nicer. By far the best home exchange we have done to date. Thanks for the memories.

Jim and Lori's Beach house was a dream family vacation! ...

Jim and Lori's Beach house was a dream family vacation! Lori sent us several very informative emails about the home, location and things to do in the area. When we arrived we found lovely laminated instructions on the table as well as some little shark teeth so we knew what to look for on the beach. The home was decorated with Japanese decor which added a peaceful and unique vibe. The kitchen had top of line appliances and was fully stocked for all our cooking needs. They provided beach toys, umbrellas, boogie boards and beach towels. The newly installed sliding glass doors open up to a beautiful white sand beach. It felt like we had our own private beach! At night we were able to relax with a movie on their flat screen tv and play board games(large selection). They also had many toys for our 3 & 5 year olds to play with. The WiFi was fast and dependable, which was great because I still had to run my small business. The town was adorable and we would recommend going to Island Delights for burgers and ice cream. We also bought fresh fish and shrimp from the local fish market and brought it back to the house to cook up! This will definitely go down in history as one of our favorite family vacations. Thank you Jim and Lori!

What we said about Christal's house:

We stayed in Christal & Jason's Santa Fe home after we toured Carlsbad Caverns for Springbreak this year. Their house was a nice base for exploring the lovely town of SF and surrounding areas. Up on top of a little hill, the property felt very private yet had easy access to commercial areas and downtown. The kids enjoyed the downstairs pingpong very much, while the grownups spent time on the deck & hottub. We were only 4, so stayed in the two bedrooms on the main floor. But, there's another whole floor of bedrooms/baths which make it a nice house for multiple or extended families. We were able to do a noncontiguous exchange that made it work for both of our respective vacation schedules (not the easiest thing when exchanging almost coast to coast.) Thanks C&J for the memories of our Western adventure!
