- Myriam Homemaker (51)
- Laura child (12)
Hello from beautiful Southern California
My name is Marty, I am a 51 year old American who married Myriam, a 49 year old Belgian 19 years ago. I am a self employed attorney and Myriam is a stay at home mom for our 10 year old daughter.
I am outgoing and love to travel. I have spent over a year of my life on vacation in Europe. Long ago I used to give talks about how to travel economically and safely to Europe at the local youth hostel. Now I give talks on how to earn miles and points to travel the world economically [U.S. residents have great opportunities]. I am also a magician [and a member of the Magic Castle - a world famous private invitation only magician's club in Hollywood - see magiccastle.com]. I enjoy people.
Myriam used to be in the fashion business in Europe [MEXX] and here [Liz Claibourne]. Myriam has a University Degree in French from here as well as a teaching degree in Belgium for Dutch, English and German. Myriam is currently in the process of earning a teaching credential in French.
Our daughter Laura is 10 and is a well behaved, easy going child.
We are raising our daughter bilingual English/Dutch, so we have many many Dutch children's books, DVD's and games/toys [English and Dutch]. Many of our DVD's are also in other European languages..
I am proficent in Spanish and have a small childs' vocabulary in Dutch. Myriam speaks English, Dutch/Flemish and French fluently [her German is rusty].
We go to Belgium each year to visit family in both the Dutch and French speaking areas, so our primary goal is to exchange houses in 2015 and beyond during school holidays with a family who lives somewhat near Brussels. Our house is available for the summer of 2015 [for simultaneous or non simultaneous exchange]. My mother-in-law lives in Miese-Wolvertem, my sister-in-law and brother-in-law live in Lasne [near Waterloo]. We have cousins in Vlaams Brabant and the province of Antwerp as well. We completed a nice home exchanges in July 2012 and July 2013 in a suburbs of Brussels and have an excellent references. We have a home exchanged planned for summer 2014.
July 1 — August 31, 2014 These dates are flexible
We come to Belgium every summer. It is possible for us to come to Belgium over Christmas vacation. We may be interested in other European destinations.
I love to travel and earn points and miles through credit card and other promotions available in the US to travel economically. Our most recent trip was to Japan to visit Japanese friends over Christmas and New Years 2013/2014.
