We would be interested in learning some German during our next exchange and going to language school for at least a week.
It was our first experience of home exchange and it was very good. Baum's home is very cozy. It's located in a nice neighborhood, not very far from city center. The Baums are very helpful: they provided us with detailed information on places to visit and things to do and identified some interesting activities for our children. ... finally you have to taste the excellent plums in the backyard...
A fantastic exchange. The apartment is beautiful, in a suburb of Alghero. A little too far to walk to town center, but easy to drive most of the way, park the car and then walk. Alghero historic center is lovely. Lots of restaurants, bars, ice-cream parlors, shops. For best Sardinian food (delicious!!!) try an Agriturismo. There are many lovely beaches a short drive from the apartment. Definitely no need to drive for more than 1 hour. The Parodis are a lovely family. The apartment was spotless when we arrived, as was our house when we got back.
Our HomeExchange with Jonathan and Karen was a wonderful experience. The house is conveniently located in a small nice neighborhood, a bus line to either the center of charming Dublin or the beautiful Dun Laoghaire within a 5 minute walk. The house is very nice and well equipped. Everything we needed was at hand's reach. Jonathan and Karen are lovely. They left us a house guide file that was great and very informative. Ireland itself is beautiful. We were able to travel to different sites, all within an hour's drive. To conclude, we had a great stay and would warmly recommend an exchange with the Baums. The Batalin family (Israel) Things we loved in Ireland: 1. Wicklow area: Glendalough - The waterfall and the upper lake, Clara-Lara, Old Military Road in Wicklow, Enniskerry, Wicklow Gap, Sally Gap, Powerscourt gardens and waterfall, the small R roads. 2. The coast starting at Dun Laoghaire, through Dalkey, Killiney, Bray, Greystones, to Wicklow. 3. Dingle peninsula, Gap of Dunloe and Black Valley, Bantry Bay and Mizen Head were amazing. The road between Kenmare and Bantry. 4. Avoca's stores and cafe, Queen of Tarts in Dublin. 5. Dublin's bookstores and parks. 6. Especially for kids the park near Dunnes (Cabinteely). 7. Bus line 46a is fabulous. It's like a tour bus. Have a great stay in a marvelous Ireland!!!
We had a nice first experience in home exchange. We met a very nice family, friendly and respectful. Karen and jonathan were very helpfull, and gave us all we needed to know about our stay in Dublin. The house is warm and cozy. the neighboors are very freindly, we don't feel lost. Karen knowns how to secure us about an exchange and was very available to give us answers we needed.
