This was not our first trip to Utah but we were so happy to visit again. After travelling extensively in the States, we can say that Utah is definitely one of our favourite states and the most beautiful, offering so many places of varied and outstanding beauty. Staying at Melody’s place enabled us to discover Northern Utah and it was close enough to Yellowstone for a few day trip to visit this awesome park. The Ogden area is actually very well located, half way between Yellowstone/Grand Teton and the parks of Southern Utah. But if you prefer not to travel too much, that’s fine too as the Ogden valley, with the Pineview Reservoir and the surrounding mountains, is a vacation area itself. And if you (or your older children) fear of becoming fed up with the beautiful landscapes around Melody’s home and the peace and quiet that you can enjoy on her deck, bear in mind that city life is very close and in 20 minutes, you can reach shops, malls, museums etc. Drive no more than one hour and you will end up in Salt Lake City. Besides, Melody’s home is very comfortable, very well equipped and she also lent us her camping gear, which was great for our trips to Yellowstone and the Moab area. Melody is lucky because she can exchange her home both in Summer and in Winter. We could only guess what it must look like in Winter: gorgeous. And they say the snow is great… so with so many skiing opportunities so close to Melody’s home, don’t hesitate to exchange with her in Winter too! It was very easy to make arrangements with Melody and we feel that we were very lucky to exchange with her. We had a wonderful holiday.
Tip : combine your exchange with Melody’s home with a few day road trip in Northern Arizona/Southern Utah/Nevada before getting to her place and/or when leaving. We flew into Phoenix and out of Los Angeles… It cost us some money (rental cars and motels) but it was really worth it and we didn’t regret it. So many awesome places to visit on the way. The South-West is so beautiful and Utah definitely ranks first !
