Greetings from Gallagher Cove
Hi. My name is Barbara. My husband Bob and I are in our 50's. We are retired. He was a firefighter for 35 years. I am co-owner of a retail store here in Olympia. We have 2 orange cats. Their names are Frank and Nelson. They are friendly and independent. We prefer to leave them home during our travels. They have large dispensers for food and water along with their own access in to the garage. They really are no trouble. It is your preference to allow them in the house. On your lap or independent, your choice.
We enjoy travel, walking, boating, and all outdoor water sports. We are avid gardeners, and have an interest in European history, art and architecture. Our travels have taken us to much of Europe, both for business and pleasure. We have a great love for Italy and have traveled there 10 times for business in Murano as well as student study of art and holiday. We have also been to Australia, The Caribbean, Mexico, Belize, Canada, Asia and in most parts of our own U.S.A. Our plan is to venture further now that we have the freedom to do so. We enjoy entertaining with dinner parties in our home in the winter and being outdoors in the summer. My husband is a great cook and I enjoy music and am learning to speak a little Italian.
Occasionally we travel with one or two other friends. Should this be a consideration, it would only be with your approval.

We are looking for an exchange on the islands.
Any time These dates are flexible
Italy spring or fall any time
First let me say this was our 22nd exchange, every time I say...they can't possibly get better! Well, yes it did. Barb's and Bob's house is fabulous. Half the vacation we just sat in their backyard looking out at the Olympic Mts. over the water saying this can't be real. Their decorating throughout the house gets an A+, gardens are phenomenal...A+ again, and you cannot beat Washington's scenery, from the mountains, to the ocean, to the Cities. We toured Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Rainier spent a night on the coast at a Seaport town called Ilwaco (awesome beaches), and had fun hiking around Olympia. We had the pleasure of meeting Barb and Bob last year on a previous exchange we did in Washington, and had a blast hosting them at our house one night prior to this trip. They are truly a wonderful couple, genuine and fun to be around. A plus was digging for clams in their backyard, best steamers we have ever had. We even enjoyed rowing around their cove. Every window of the house looks out on the water, it truly is breathtaking. There isn't anything you lack here. Oh.... and the privacy is what we loved the best. All you hear are the birds, no cars, just nature. Incredible. If you are thinking of going to Washington State for a vacation, and you really should, work on an exchange with this place. It'll be one of your most memorable trips!
What can I say, the private swimming pool took us back to our childhoods. The decks are extensive with nice gardens. The master is quite comfortable. We walked nearby beautiful Green Lake and Round Lake. Green and peaceful. Niagra Falls was a 2 1/2 hour drive from Syracuse where we stayed the night. MIss the Wind of the Caves and do Maid of the Mist twice. Thousand Islands with it's Boldt Castle on Heart Island and the wooden boat museum in Cape Vincent were highlights. We flew to NYC one hour from Hancock Airport in Syracuse to see an off Broadway show and sights. The commute to and from airport was easy. Mark and Donna are good hosts. They provided an extensive array of brochures for local points of interest as well as a wealth of knowledge associated with New York sites. Thank you. Barb and Bob from Washington State.
Oh how wonderful our stay was at "Gallagher Cove" in Olympia, Washington! The views were breathtaking, and it was so quiet and secluded - yet we could zip into town fairly quickly. The home is decorated with shells and starfish, and we felt spoiled as everything was provided down to the chocolates upon our arrival. We enjoyed digging little clams, hiking, exploring the waterfront neighborhood, and taking a zillion photos! We would definately return again. Oh and we can't forget our friends Nelson and Frank. :) The cat "caretakers" of the property! They were so fun.
