Hello from Mount Shasta
This second home is a new, 2300 square-foot two-story house (built in 2007) with attached garage. It is located at 2700 feet elevation, so that the weather is cool in summer and it often snows in winter. It has two gas fireplaces, one in the great room and one in the master bedroom. Each of the three bedrooms has an adjoining, private bathroom. This beautiful home, with high open ceilings and 20-foot high windows immerses you in the views of the surrounding pine forest. From the balcony off the master bedroom, you have a view of Mt. Shasta and the Bradley Ridge. Sunset is a wonderful time to enjoy the balcony view. You will be only six miles away from an 18 hole golf course. In the winter, you can enjoy the snow scene on Mt. Shasta. In the summer, hike the Pacific Crest Trail or one of the trails just behind the home. You might like to kayak on the lakes, fly fish the Upper Sacramento River or if you are even more adventuresome, climb Mt. Shasta. The home is located about 85 miles south of Ashland, Oregon (an easy 1.5 hour drive north on I-5) where the Shakespeare Theatre offers world-class plays from February through November. Jacksonville is just a little further up the highway. Excellent restaurants are located near by.

We love to hike, wine taste, see art museums, explore historical areas.
Great location just 10 minutes from downtown Mount Shasta. The home is so beautiful and luxurious. Everything was considered (for example above the sitting area on the deck, there is an electronic shade that extends or pulls back by remote control). The entire living room east wall is windows, floor to celing. And all the other shades, in the living room, are also controlled by remote control. The house sits on a green belt with forest views. There are hiking trails 100 feet from the house that lead to incredible views of Shasta and the surrounding area. The owners couldnt be nicer or more accomidating. The entire experience was wonderful, pleasant and luxurious; I highly recommend this home.
We have exchanged homes with people over the past nine years and our experience with Sue and Buck was among the best. The home is both lovely and comfortable. Our favorite place in the house was the "great room" with 20 feet ceilings and large windows on two sides. There are no homes visible as you look out into their wooded property with a tree-house feel. Sue e-mailed and called us promptly and several times regarding the details of our stay. They were at the home when we first arrived to show us around. It was a pleasure meeting them and added to our comfort in being in their home. It was great to have the availability of the two kayaks. It was also nice to have the flexibility of non-simultaneous exchange.
Wonderful location, right in heart of wine country. Lovely couple to exchange with.
