We are a family from London looking to exchange anywhere that takes our fancy. My wife and I are both journalists. We have two daughters aged 12 and 9. We enjoy exploring both the town and the countryside.
We like walking around cities and the countryside
We spent two weeks here in July/ August and had a fantastic time. The house is very spacious, and had more than ample space for the four of us. It is situated in a lovely neighbourhood. The rooms are furnished and decorated in an artful and stylish way, which attracted me to the house from the beginning. Everything in here communicated to me impressions of the personalities and the lives of the interesting people who live here, Matthew, Kate, Cicely and Lydia, who we had the pleasure to meet twice, in London and in our house in Potsdam. I feel lucky to have been allowed to meet them, to spend a fortnight in their home, and to explore from here this vibrant city. The outside world was quite busy with traffic and the overground running nearby, but the house magically created a feeling of being removed from it all. I am sensitive to noise and light in the morning, so I was happy to find a bedroom for us to sleep in, which was both quiet and dark. I could not have imagined a better holiday experience of London and the Londoners.
We had a very great time (5 days) in october. The house is nice, spacious, well located, with lots of charm : typical house of London, with brick, terrace and small garden Kate, Matthew and the girls are very friendly. We were very well received. They have two nice cats with which our kids played. The exchange was easy and simple with Kate and Matthiew. They were also very good guests in our Paris appartement. Good experience of London and the Londoners. And good weather too ! Thank you very much
Christine and Jean-Pierre's apartment is wonderfully placed, supremely stylish and very well appointed. When we arrived we thought it was too good to be true, and by the time we left we were even keener on it after discovering the area and enjoying Parisian loft living for four days. The apartment is full of charm - including a bath tub the size of a village pond, and copious examples of crockery by a talented family of budding potters. The apartment is brilliantly close to good bars, shops and restaurants. It is also only a short stroll to so many of Paris’s great sites. It was fantastic to play at being Parisian urbanites for four days. Christine and Jean-Pierre and their children were also superb guests in our London house, leaving our home spotless and generously full of groceries. They were also extremely easy and laid back to deal with. Five stars all round. Thanks for having us - it was a great exchange. Matthew
We had a fantastic exchange with Matthew, Kate and their girls in December. They were great hosts, friendly and very easy to communicate with. We greatly appreciated their insider's tips to London, which allowed us to discover places we wouldn't have thought of otherwise. The house is very spacious and beautifully decorated, we felt very comfortable during our stay. Our boys had lots of space to run around, play in the garden and they were delighted to be able to take care of the two sweet cats to whom they got very attached by the end of the stay. The house is perfectly situated in a lovely area very close to central London and all it has to offer. Matthew and his family were also great guests and left our home spotless. Thank you for this exchange (and for all the chocolate)! Irma and family from Oslo, Norway
We had a very great stay (5 days : too short !!!) in february 2015. The house is nice, spacious, very well located, with lots of charm : typical house of London, comfortable and clean. We loved very much Camden town and neighborhood, the grafton pub in the House's street, the bakery, lot of parks, a lot of service and public transport, all it's easy. Matthew's family are very friendly. We were very well received with a nice gift. They have two nice and easy cats. The swap was easy and simple with Kate and Matthew. Booked only 2 weeks before ! They were also very good guests in our home at Saint Malo. Good experience of London. Thank you very much ! We are very happy about this swap. Sophie and Jac
We had a superb break at Sophie and Jac's wonderfully well-equipped and stylish home. It is the perfect base to explore Brittany. It has all the quiet and big skies of being in the middle of the countryside and yet it is very close to the delights of St Malo and the coast. The house and garden are huge and the kitchen extension has been beautifully done making the whole ground floor a really nice space to spend time in. Even in the middle of February the Brittany coast is a great place to explore and Sophie and Jac's recommendations were really helpful. We especially liked the Aquarium, Cancale (where we had oysters on the beach for only €6) and the warm salt water pool at Dinard. We'd love to come back in the summer or indeed at any time, and would heartily recommend it to anyone. Sophie, Jac and the kids were also very considerate guests in our house. They left our place spotless and were very understanding when our cranky heating broke down - they managed to fix it with no fuss. Thanks for a great exchange. Matthew
We had a wonderful exchange with Kate and Matthew! Their home is big and airy and beautifully decorated with a lot of charm. The small garden and rooftop terrace are perfect for a coffee in the sun. The surrounding area is great with lots of nice places within walking distance. And to top it off, they took really good care of our own home. A really great experience!!
We spent about a week in London at Pentecost in Matthew and Kate´s beautiful, well equipped home. Matthew has send in advance useful informations about the house and the area via email, so that we could previously get a first impression. We had a fantastic time with our children. The house is very centrally located in a nice neighbourhood, bus and train stations are easy to reach within walking distance. There are lots of restaurants and supermarkets just around the corner. The kitten Rosa and Fritz were very nice and friendly. We all had a great time with them. We especially enjoyed the closeness to Camden Market, Regents Park and Primrose Hill, easily accessible by bike. What a great exchange in a fascinating city. Meanwhile Matthew and his family has spent the week in our home in Munich, everything worked out fine. Thank you very much to Matthew, Kate and their kids for the great exchange!
We had a fabulous time in Munich. Ute and Mario's house is in a quiet and pleasant suburban area, but German trains are so efficient that you can get to the centre of Munich very quickly. The neighbourhood is also great for walks and beer gardens - try the Weichandhof, or even closer the friendly garden by the Insel Muhle hotel. Ute has a great folder stuffed full of helpful instructions and recommendations. We especially enjoyed a day out walking around the Starnberger See. The home is very well equipped, and our kids enjoyed looking after the family guinea pigs. Ute and Mario and their children were also considerate house guests in our London home and made the whole exchange very easy and enjoyable. Thanks for a great swap.
We were lucky to stay two weeks in this huge town house in Camden. We didn't know the area but Matthew and his family made it easy for us to feel at home. The area is wonderful, we loved Camden marked and the local shops and restaurants. The house was clean and very well fitted, it's decorated with lost of vintage objects and had a nice urban chic feeling with plenty of room for our family and the garden and balcony made for a quiet base after sight seeing in central London. Matthew had arranged for parking permission for our car and we only used public transport which was really easy. Communication with the family was great and we would highly recommend an exchange.
