We are both interested in the countryside or in big cities, as long as we feel comfortable.
We have just spent a very pleasant week in the superb house of the Rougelin family in Burgundy, and strongly recommend their home to anyone seeking to discover a province that ranks amongst France's most beautiful regions and boasts a rich legacy of culture. Being city dwellers used to living in cramped apartments, we view their large house as comfort and luxury to the highest degree. The Rougelins are very nice people with whom communication is easy by both e-mail and telephone, which enabled us to arrange every detail of the swap up to the last minute. They were very understanding when we had to put off our departure by 24 hours after our car broke down a few miles from home. And when we finally arrived, we were treated to an excellent dinner washed down with local wines which need no recommendation. Françoise and Christophe, thank you again for your warm welcome and -anytime you want, we are ready to come back!
Very cosy and clean flat, ideally located in a really quiet street, yet quite near the hustle and bustle of the French capital. It's the first time we've been to Paris without feeling exhausted, This friendly exchange enabled us to organize our time the way we wanted, without always having to dine outside, when we did not feel like it. We also appreciated François, Adrien and Alice's friendliness and generosity, who shared their meal and their flat with us on the first evening, and who had even asked father Christmas to bring us souvenirs!
Our family spent two weeks in Summer 2012 at the Rougelin's wonderful home. Although having travelled a bit in France, we had never been to Bourgogne and were not really sure what to expect. We were more than pleasantly surprised by the areas exceptional beauty. Meticulously preserved villages right out of the middle ages situated in the midst of some of the most famous wine yards of the world. A small castle around every corner, thousand year old churches everywere. The area is as nice for hiking and biking as for sightseeing. Numerous hiking paths lead through fields, wine yards and dense forest just a few kilometers west of the quite, wonderful little village of Flagey Echezeau, where Christoph's and Francoise's house is located. Our daughter compared the house to a small old castle with its old kitchen with big fireplace and the courtyard, where she had her imaginary horses and horse carriages. We found the house was renovated and decorated with exceptional taste and care. The home offers all modern appliances of a very high quality. It came with a fridge full of local specialities and wine, a garden with ripe strawberries, vegetables and pears and a table full of self written sighseeing proposals, books, maps, leaflets, detailed restaurant and shopping advice. Francoise had gone to great lengths to make our stay an unforgettable one with her attention to detail and her warmhearted helpfulness. We met the family on our way to France for lunch and it was a pleasure for us to get to know such a friendly family. Francoise and Christoph very nice, easy-going, warmhearted people with both their very cute and well behaved boys. Our daughter was immediately impressed by them and together they left for the playground. Needless to mention, that we found our house very well taken care of after our return. We were very happy with our trip to Bourgogne and with Christophe's and Francoise's home . For us it was a great experience and our best France trip so far. Christoph
Although we had not thought of going to Bavaria at first, we were very much impressed by this marvelous region of lakes and mountains, by this very convenient, clean, luminous and comfortable house, and by an adorable family which got very implcated in this exchange and who did their best to make things go well, took care of the garden and left us a perfectly clean house and a full up fridge. We visited both Munich and Salzburg, went for walks in the mountains, and bathed in lakes we could reach by car and well adapted to children. We also went to traditionnal fairs and discovered local dishes. We warmly recommend Bavaria, this particular house and that family.
We just had our first home-exchange experience and we loved it! Françoise & Christophe made us feel very welcome at their beautiful renovated and nicely decorated house. Everything was very tidy and very clean. On arrival we found (besides the great wine and cheese!) a file packed with information about restaurants, sight-seeing etc. which was great. Françoise & Christophe took care of our home like it was their own. Their children are cute and well mannered boys. If you are looking for a convenient wonderful house in Burgundy Françoise & Christophe house is the place to be!
We had an excellent contact with Martina,Jur and their two very well behaved children, and thanks to them and the addresses they left us, we spent two wonderful weeks in Amsterdam and its surroundings. Their house is ideally situated to visit that part of Holland. We left the car in their garage most of the time and travelled by tram, which was very convenient. They really did their best so that we had a good time.Their house is very clear, very clean and in a very quiet area, and everything was perfectly tidy and clean when we came back here. They even left us little presents and food, which was more than we expected. They can stop here any time, they will always be welcome.
If you want to visit Burgundy, this house is the perfect one. The photos stick to reality. Cleanliness matters to us and the house was spick and span. Our hosts were very welcoming and did not neglect any details. We found new appliances and the bedlinen and towels were high quality. The house is within easy reach, only 20 mns from Dijon, close to supermarkets and everything you need. The family is very polite respectful, energetic and...very beautiful. Our feedback is supremely positive. Thank you to Francoise and her family > Versione in italiano > > > Se volete visitare la Borgogna, questa casa è l'ideale!
Thanks to Palma and her family's great friendliness, we had a wonderful stay in Rome. Their flat is very spacious, very bright, very quiet , well decorated and last but not least, includes air conditionning, which was much appreciated in July! The addresses they gave us for restaurants or pizzerias were very useful. The flat is located in a charming and quiet street in the heart of ancient Rome, 10 mns away from the Vatican , very close to the bus stops, and 10mns away from some more animated parts of the town such as Campo di fiori. We most heartily advise you to have a stay at our new friends'. Thank you very much again Palma and thank you Luis for your translations
We had a wonderful stay in Françoise and Christophe's home. This was not only our first home exchange, but also our first holiday with our 4 month old baby girl which naturally was a little bit nerve wracking for us. We really need not have worried as Françoise had made many preparations to make our stay as comfortable as possible and we had also been in regular contact prior to the exchange. We had a long day's travel and were very grateful to arrive at their house (following their excellent directions) to a homemade quiche, fresh salad and a selection of lovely local wine and cheese. We were also delighted to see a large folder packed with information on places to visit, marked on a map, lots of brochures and approximate travel times - very useful! They live in a beautifully renovated old French house at the edge of a typically French village. Inside, the house was rustic and comfortable. We found it very peaceful and relaxing to be there. We were able to go for walks from the house to a lovely chateau hotel and the local vineyard. Just a few minutes drive and we had all the shops and conveniences we needed. We were fortunate to be able to meet Françoise, Christophe and their two lovely boys on our return to Ireland. We found them to be very friendly, courteous, and genuinely interested in us and our culture. The two boys are very well behaved and really good fun. Our house was treated with the utmost respect and we would be happy to have them return anytime.
Michelle and Eoin largely contributed to our very successful holiday in Ireland. Our internet contact was very friendly and frequent, so that our exchange was bound to be highly positive. Their house is very spacious, modern and cosy at the same time, and we really appreciated that comfort when the weather turned... let's say...Irish! The kitchen is very pleasant to cook in, the beds are very comfortable and they've done their best to have a nice garden. We felt very welcome, with a delicious sheperd's pie, beer and even some French wine awaiting us in the fridge. On our arrival, we found all the necessary pieces of information we needed, many touristic booklets, and numerous good addresses. We also exchanged our cars and everything went well. They even organized an afternoon in Eoin's family so that our children could meet Irish boys, and we thank them all for that. Their house is very well located, in a really quiet place, near a historical little town 20mns away from Galway. Michelle and Eoin were as kind as to let us stay in their house for three more days after they got back. Meeting them and their sweet baby daughter was a real pleasure. They are very well behaved and educated people and they took care of our house as if it was their own. We wish them many successful and friendly exchanges and we want to thank them very much for these great holidays; Un échange 100% réussi: maison confortable , spacieuse, pratique et lumineuse.
My visit to the Rougelin home was fantastic. The house was beautiful. It was roomy, spotless, comfortable and offered 5 star accomodation with 5 star decor. The attention to detail in the decor was amazing. There were many beautiful paintings which I later found out were done by the lady of the house, Francoise. The location was fabulous especially for wine lovers. In addition to the great wine there were many fine restaurants. On Francoise' recommendation we visited 2 of them, one called Simon was actually 2 minutes walk from the house. The food there was amongst the best I have ever tasted surpassing any top London restaurants I have been to. We also went to many brasseries and had lovely meals at very reasonable prices. We really did not have enough time to visit all the places we would have liked in our 5 days. We loved everywhere we went, Dijon, Beaune, Nuit St George. To cap all this Francoise left a great supply of treats particular to the area, cheese, sweets and meat. And she gave me some wonderful courgettes to bring home with me. The Rougelins left my home just as they found it, neat and clean. They were amongst the best guests I have had visit my home.
We had a wonderful week at Patricia's. Located in a very quiet area, the house is very clean , cosy and bright. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the bathroom is very pleasant and convenient, which allowed us to have a good rest after visiting London. We regularly had breakfast in the conservatory, overlooking the very well-kept garden, and watching squirrels. The house is less than 10 mns walk from Surbiton station and all the department stores. Surbiton is near Wimbledon, 20mns from Waterloo station by train. When we arrived, we were treated to a generous breakfast and Patricia was kind enough to lend us her car to visit Legoland near Windsor (45mns) and the Warner Bross studios (Harry Potter) (1h). We were lucky enough to meet her and her brother at our place. They are very respectful and very friendly people. I hope we'll have the opportunity to meet them again.
We are very happy about our first exchange made with the family of Christophe and Francoise! We had a very warm welcome when we arrived in their cosy and very warm decorated house in Bourgundy. The family arrived two days before we left in our house. We were invited to have a very nice diner together in a local restaurant so we had the chance to meet and get to know each other. They are wonderful people! Their sons Mathias and Paul are very polite and well behaved. The second evening we cooked together. Everything very relaxed and nice. The house is very well located if you're looking to visit some nice cities: Dijon (30 minutes) and Beaune (30 minutes). In both cities you have nice walks, historical sights, restaurants, shopping area's, ... Especially if you want to taste some of the best wines of the world, you'll have to come here. Their home is located in the "Cote de nuits", perfect for wine tasting and sightseeing. The family took very good care of our house. The boys spoiled our cat, our 3 hens and the fishes in the pond. We had a wonderful time in their town, that has a delicious restaurant "Chez Simon" that is really worth a visit. We would really like to go back to Burgundy because we only had 5 days here and we want to explore the area some more! Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! Pieter, Annelies, Laure and Lars
Once more an excellent exchange! We arrived two days before Anne-Lise and Pieter's departure, and were heartily welcome. We shared a meal at a restaurant, and were welcome in the morning by delicious and plentiful breakfasts. We cooked together and we'll have vivid memories of these precious moments. They are so friendly people! Their house is very clean, very quiet, roomy and very modern.Comfortable beds. We were a bit worried to have so small children at home, but our house was spick and span when we came back. Our children were delighted to look after Cashmere the cat, three hens and fish. Torhout is ideally situated : 20mns away from Bruges, 50mns from Gent, 30 mns from the sea and a sun park, 20mns away from 1st WW places , Tyne Cot cemetary and historical museums. Anne -Lise and Pieter will always be welcome here. Thank you so much!
We had a lovely stay in the Bourgogne in he house of Françoise and Christophe and their two sons Paul and Mathias. We actually had the chance to meet up before the exchange which was great and very reassuring since it was our first exchange. Françoise and Christophe have done a great job in restoring their old typical Burgundy house completely, they turned it in to a very tasteful and nicely decorated home. The spacious master bedroom has en suite bathroom with spa, that we really enjoyed. We also very much enjoyed and appreciated the meal that Françoise prepared for us and the excellent wine that Christophe left for us, a real treat. We are wine tasting amateurs and could not think of a better place than Burgundy to do wine tasting. The vineyards are colored and beautiful around this time of year. We also enjoyed visiting Dijon and Beaune, two very beautiful typical Burgundy cities. Burgundy is the place to be if you enjoy good restaurants and excellent wines . This first home exchange was a very good experience, many thanks to Françoise and Christophe who made us feel very welcome and who took excellent care of our house and of our cat.
We met Mariette, Peter and their son half-way and got on very well from the start. Their cuddly cat was awaiting us and we spent 5 wonderful days in a typical provencal setting. Their house is large, bright, quiet and beautifully decorated. The garden is planted with olive trees, laurels and cypresses and we much appreciated to lie down near the pool . Many places are to be seen very closely , like wine growing places and charming villages on the hillside. Peter had left us some wine from the area and Mariette had cooked a delicious dinner which was much appreciated. Our house was very clean when we came back. We want to thank them for all this. Provence is one of these places you can never get bored with, but even less in this magical dwelling.
Francoise and Christophe's house is absolutely wonderful, full of charm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Its location on the edge of a pretty village makes it the ideal place to relax and unwind, perhaps with a book in the garden; while also being a perfect starting point for tours of the famous local vineyards and the lovely towns of Beaune and Dijon. Francoise could not have been kinder or more welcoming. She left us lots of goodies: a chilled aperitif and nibbles, a home-made cake and quiche as well as a fridge full of useful provisions. She also has a compendious folder of local maps, restaurants, scenic drives and local sights, all tremendously useful. The house is just such a pleasant place to spend time in, with it's bright and airy office, two sitting rooms and the farmhouse kitchen which forms the heart of the house. The bathrooms and bedrooms are so clean and fresh, it's like staying in a luxury hotel! We strolled across the fields to the neighbouring village most evenings for a wander along the clear stream past the beautiful old chateau. There's an antique shop and a little bric-a-brac shop there, as well as a fromagerie. Lots of lovely picnic spots nearby and plenty of cafes and shops at Nuits St George. We very much enjoyed meeting the Rougelins at the end of your exchange, and now count them as friends. A lovely family, they have a lovely home. Anyone who exchanges with them will be happy.
Spending our Easter holiday in this historical manor was like going back into the past . Its architecture, its decoration and its wonderful and so well-trimmed gardens helped us travelling backwards, but at the same time we enjoyed a well-heated and very cosy place and a delighful swimming-pool, also very warm even at Easter time. The manor is situated in a hamlet but it is not isolated and so we could count on very nice people in case of a need.It is also very near a small town, which was very convenient to shop or have a nice Indian meal. The place was very quiet and from the gardens, we could see cows, ducks, pheasants... We hardly had enough time to visit all we wanted. There are many things to visit within a few miles : Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, The Morgan car factory in Malvern, Gloucester and Worcester very famous for their cathedrals, Tewkesbury, Cheltenham, and all the lovely Cotswolds villages such as Broadway, Chipping Campden, Moreton in marsh, Bourton on the Water, Winchcombe and Sudeley castle, The slaughters, Stow on the Wold, Little Barrington and Burford... We were also very lucky to meet Cressida and Charles, who are very warm-hearted and very welcoming. It was very easy to communicate and Cressida did her best to make us feel comfortable. They left our house very clean and were very generous as they left. We want to thank them from the bottom of our hearts for these exceptional holidays, and we also want to thank Trocmaison / Home exchange thanks to whom this exchange was made possible. We are very willing to welcome them here any time. Françoise, Chrsitophe, Paul and Mathias
We had a wonderful exchange with Francoise, Christophe and the 2 boys. Their house is warm and comfortable with every possible amenity, including a beautiful swimming pool and a nice garden with delicious tomatoes! Francoise was keen to ensure that we had a great stay. She left a delicious quiche, wine and much more for us to enjoy when we arrived and gave us lots of ideas for things to do in the local area. She was warm, friendly and communicative(in both English and German!!) throughout the exchange process. Their house is a 10 minute drive from Nuits-Saint-Georges, Château du Clos Vougeot with the famous wine yards and there are lots of other fantastic towns to explore within an hour's drive: Beaune, Chateauneuf and Dijon to name but a few. We did some great tours too and ate well in the local restaurants. To top it off, Francoise and Christophe were impeccable guests and treated our house with care. We would wholeheartedly recommend them to you.
We really enjoyed staying at Karin and Erik's beautiful house. Their home is roomy, bright, very clean and tidy and last but not least, incredibly charming. Karin and Erik love charming country style antiques and Karin has excellent taste in decorating. Nothing was neglected, and the garden is a little paradise. The communication between us was very easy and we were very welcome by Erik's parents. There is plenty to do within one hour's car : Amsterdam (P+R), Edam, Vollendam, Marken, Endkuizen, Haarlem, Leyden, Den Haag, Utrecht... It is even very easy to go to wonderfulTexel (Wadden Islands) for a few days, and of course, we are near great beaches of very fine sand , (Castricum for example). Last but not least, after being disappointed by an exchange last year for the first time, they made us confident again to swap our home, by letting it and the garden in a perfect state. We would be very happy to meet them and their daughters again and share a good meal together.
