Hi we're the "A Team!"
We are an experienced traveling family, though fairly new to the house exchange scene. We've traveled together to Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, and my wife and I have been to France and Spain together. Summer of 2014 we did two excahnges in Italy and had great experiences with both. We're looking forward to vacationing again this summer, but staying more local, in the Adirondacks, in upstate NY. We are big foodies and cheese lovers, so we seek out the same wherever we go and can recommend great places to do both here in Brooklyn and NYC.
August 5 — August 19, 2014
A simultaneous exchange is preferred, though we'd entertain an exchange that is real close to our dates. We're fine with staying within Milan or anywhere nearby (within an hour or so).
We love to eat and love all kinds of gourmet food and comfort food as well. Very much into organic and locally sourced, seasonal food. We're members of a large members only food coop at home and get most of our food from local farms.
We stayed in Alan's house for 2 weeks. It has worked out great for us! The house is very nice and pleasant, the subway is just a block away and getting to Manhattan is very easy. They left bikes for us to use and we did have quite a few opportunities to take advantage of it, biking up and down the Brooklyn bridge and up into Manhattan! We also enjoyed Brooklyn; Prospect Park, Coney Island...they are all very easy to get to from the house. We loved living New York not as tourists usually do, got to see and do things we had never done all other times we had gone there. Alan and his nice family helped us to have a great time by giving us all the support and the advice we needed to enjoy their home and their beautiful City. Thank you!
I and Sandra, with our children Cecilia and Sebastian, were at Brooklyn from 08.31.14 to 03.09.14 . It was a beautiful experience because the Townhouse of Alan is situated close to Prospect Park in a nice area of Brooklyn, well served by Metro. We had three bicycles and all comforts (air conditioning, washing machine, dryer, tv, hi-fi, wifi, space to store our things). The house is well furnished and very bright and the atmosphere is welcoming. Alan and his family, which we had already known in Italy, were very helpful and the tips sheet on Brooklyn, prepared by Alan, was of great utility. Really a good holiday.
Five of us stayed in Simone and Sandra's home in August, 2014. Their apartment was very centrally located, a ten minute walk from the leaning tower. The apartment was really unique, with large rooms, high ceilings, and very well appointed--nice furnishings, art, modern kitchen and bath, etc. Also had laundry and lots of storage. We arrived late from our day in Florence, but Simone was very patient and welcomed us after 10pm, giving us a tour of the apartment as well as some tips for local restaurants. Their family stayed in our home in early September, 2014 and were nice guests. We stayed in contact with them throughout their stay and they arrived and left at the times they said they would and left the house in good condition.
We did a short exchange with Alan and his family in June of 2015. Their home is located within walking distance to Prospect Park and the subway station where we were able to grab a train directly into Manhattan. It was the perfect location for enjoying both Brooklyn and Manhattan! The home is more beautiful than the pictures show- it had all the comforts of home and we were able to relax and enjoy some down time in the beautiful living and dining rooms. Our favorite spot, however, was the front stoop! We spent at least an hour each morning sitting on the stoop drinking coffee and eating New York style bagels while our children rode their scooters up and down the street- it was just wonderful! Alan was VERY easy to communicate with both before and during our exchange. When we returned to our own home, Alan and his family had left it perfectly clean and tidy. I would highly recommend an exchange with Alan!
