Small town festivals

Patty and I really enjoy small town festivals. While in Italy for an extended stay we attended a number of "sagras" in small villages around Orvieto. We made new friends and especially enjoyed the local specialty food and wine. Good friends, excellent food and tasty wine, life doesn't get much better that that!

We had a wonderful home exchange with Ken & Patty in Williamsburg. Their town home was very clean, comfortable, and well-appointed with everything we needed. Ken was especially easy to communicate with while preparing for and during the exchange. Their home offered us just the right mix of fun things to do nearby and a perfect place for relaxing and visiting with our friends. The swimming pool was great for an evening swim following a busy day of sight-seeing. Williamsburg was an excellent destination for our week-long vacation, with many tourist activities and historical attractions nearby. We especially enjoyed the archeological tour at Jamestowne and the historic village of Gloucester. Our only problem was in not having time enough to do everything that we wanted to do while we were in Williamsburg. Ken and Patty took great care of our home, and everything was in great shape when we returned home. Thanks, Ken and Patty!

What we said about Susan Gramling and Steve Hessler's house:

Steve and Susan have a lovely spacious home in a quiet, friendly neighborhood. The many trees separating the adjacent houses provide lots of privacy. Yet the home is within two miles of everything. We enjoyed the big fully equipped kitchen, adjacent dining area and family room. The wrap around windows provide a beautiful view of the back yard and woods beyond. It was perfect for our casual Sunday dinner we prepared for seven adult family members and two babies. (The house also has a living and dining room for more formal occasions.) For first time home exchangers we were very fortunate to swap with Steve and Susan. Susan provided valuable guidance helping us prepare our written town home guide and on our arrival Steve and Susan gave us a helpful tour of their home. Since the focus of our trip to Chapel Hill was to see and keep our granddaughter, we especially appreciated Susan showing us where their grandson's Porta-a-crib, bouncy play seat and high chair were located. Our granddaughter really enjoyed playing in the bouncy seat. Steve is a talented artist specializing in en plein air paintings. We enjoyed looking at the many beautiful examples of his work. Steve and Susan took great care of our town house, and everything was in great shape when we returned. Thanks Steve and Susan!
