We're back home a wonderful week in Arlington. Valerie and Gavin's house is so warm and inviting, obviously the home of a happy family. It's an easy walk from the house to the Metro stop. We took advantage of that to visit museums, galleries, and the zoo in Washington. We especially enjoyed the National Portrait Gallery which we had not seen before. After sightseeing it was great to come back "home" to relax, fix dinner, and watch movies on TV. In the mornings we fed some squirrels in the backyard and did once see a black one. Of course, anyone not wishing to venture out could just spend time in the master suite bathroom. It's a destination in itself!

What we said about Bruce and Anne's house:

We had a great week in Anne and Bruce's St. Augustine home. We loved how large and spacious it was - the ceilings are at least 10 feet high. We played lots of cards in the dining room and picked oranges from the backyard tree. Our boys claimed the sleeping porch off one of the bedrooms as their "man cave" and our daughter liked to sit on the fence and count the tour trolleys go by. Our favorite thing about the swap was the fantastic location. We could walk anywhere in St. Augustine, and did. The only day we drove was an unexpectedly sunny day where we went to St. Augustine Beach, which has a lovely state park.
