Goedendag from Amsterdam
We are a family of 4; two of us are Gemini (me, Ellen, and my youngest son James (13), and two of us are Aquarius (my husband Jacob and my oldest son Mees (15).
If your in to astrology:)
We love the buzz of our city Amsterdam, but also enjoy the tranquility of living just a ferry-ride away from it.
Coffee, good food, football & AJAX, tai chi & yoga, reading & music sums us all up.

A cozy christmas in the snow would be wonderful, and a first for this family!
October 13 — October 19, 2014 These dates are flexible
An Indian summer on an Italian island...yes!
We love the sun; just a tiny spark makes us go outside and enjoy it.
Preferably at a beach with wind to let up a kite, water to run into, soft sand to do some yoga or tai chi. And lots of space to kid around with a ball.
It doesn't even have to be very warm for us to be happy out there.
Ellen's house is very cosy and located in a wonderful and very quiet neighbourhood, full of typical Dutch houses ... Ideal to stay with children. I really felt at home in this area. There’s a park just around the corner where you can rent bikes. Anyway Ellen was so kind to let us use their bikes as well. Going to Amsterdam centre is very easy by bus or very funny by bike (taking a free ferry boat). Busses are running very frequently. My son loved to peddle on a surf boat in the canal just close to their garden. They also have two lovely cats ... we miss them!
Country-life in the middle of a vivid town. Do you know the feeling when you enter the first time into the house of somebody else and right from the beginning you feel at home? This is what we felt when we stepped into Ellens house! The beautiful garden, the original furniture, the comfortable rooms, the very nice neighbours, the good cd-collection,…Our kids highlighted: “Cool teenager rooms!” “Beds in the sky” “going by surfboard to a restaurant” “cats to play with” Amsterdam Noord is the perfect place to be. There are little wooden houses on the dykes, you can go running in the morning and meet cows or you visit music festivals, good restaurants and artist galleries just around the corner. In 15 min you are downtown Amsterdam by bike. Ellen prepared a lot of recommendations for us and we had very inspiring and funny whats-app conversations, we’ve never met in person, but I still feel very close to Ellen and her family – I guess this is what home-exchange is really about! Thanks for all…..Wilko, Tànit, Carles and Maren.
