- Georgia Makeup Artist (32)
Hello from the Land of Enchantment.
Santa Fe, New Mexico has been my home since 1978 when I was hired for the summer to work at the Santa Fe Opera as a properties crafts-person. I am pleased to say that my dearest friends are still employed there and they have hired me often for various stitching projects and prop-work over these 35 years. The spectacular theatre and grounds at the foot of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains is a setting for a magical evening that can only be described in superlatives.
For 20 of the 35 years that I have lived in Santa Fe it has been my pleasure to work as a museum exhibition designer for the state of New Mexico in a division of the Department of Cultural Affairs. I have worked with the curators, staff, and collections of the Museum of International Folk Art, The Palace of the Governors/ New Mexico History Museum, Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and the New Mexico Fine Arts Museum, and several of the New Mexico State Monuments. My office was located in down town Santa Fe on Lincoln Avenue and it was wonderful to have a personal relationship with the center of this great city. I am currently retired but keep going back to help.......
Probably my greatest accomplishment is the relationship I have with my daughter Georgia who is my best friend and advocate. She has grown into a lovely adult and lives in Los Angeles, California where she works in the film industry as a makeup and prosthetic artist. Her specialty is ventilating or, hand-tying knots for facial hair pieces and wigs and recently has begun to develop her drawing skills which are quite good.
I really like to walk, hike, and ride bicycle, do yoga, look at art and architecture, museum-go, and eat good food.
We did a simultaneous exchange for a week and it was the first time for both of us. Nancy's cozy hacienda was delightful, immaculate, and very welcoming. We couldn't wait to get home every evening to barbeque on the deck and watch the sunset. The communication was clear throughout the process and our home was left in spotless condition. Thanks again for a wonderful experience.
