- Allan Retired (58)
My husband and I are in our late 50's enjoying retirement from work. Our two boys are adults and are living away from home. We have done eight exchanges in Canada,Italy, Bali and Australia and it has abeen very positive experience for us and for those who have enjoyed our home. Contacts are available . See references.
We both love travelling and discovering new places and learning about the local life and immersing ourselves in the culture. We love the coast: swimming, surfing, beach and kayaking, boating, sailing, snorkelling. But we also love bush walking, bike riding , reading, and good friends and family, and the slower pace of life - thus the move to this home 8 years ago...moved from Brisbane. We love to travel and learn more about other cultures, history, and enjoy the splendours nature has to offer. We have recently returned from volunteering with an animal welfare organisation: vicki is passionate about dogs.
For the last four years we have also been sailingl the east coast of Qld and NSW...allan life long dream fulfilled. We have now swapped the boat for an off road van and are looking forward to seeing more of our own country between I/ s trios.
We are planning a trip to the USA in
We love places of natural beauty whether that be snow capped mountains, deserts, forests, oceans or lakes, animals, historical villages: we're just not city folks at heart but will thoroughly enjoy the day visits to those. .

Just had a marvelous simultaneous exchange with Vicki and Allan. Their home at the edge of the rain forest at Buderim was gorgeous - it's large, light and airy with wonderful views from every window and a generous deck that provides a range of outdoor dining and seating options. The house is beautifully furnished and decorated and we felt immediately at home. Rest and relaxation came easily with the only decisions required being to choose between a good sound system, or any of the several TVs, or sunbathing and a swim in the pool. Vicki and Allan were very easy to deal with and very helpful. We did an exchange which also included a car exchange and we could not have asked for a better experience. You can't go wrong doing an exchange with Vicki and Allan.
We have just come back from a weeks simultaneous exchange with Rob and Jill from Rosedale in the heart of the Barossa Valley in south australia at their farm "Creeve Roe" Their property is perfect. It is a quiet haven on 40 acres in a great location to all of the wineries the region has to offer. The large home is just lovely: immaculately clean, beautifully furnished , wonderful private countryside outlook : a truly enjoyable home to stay in. If you wish to be in the heart of all the activities that a city has to offer this may not be the place-although you are an easy day trip to Adelaide or the Adelaide Hills etc. However , if you are wanting peace and solittude in a fabulous wine region- or just to base yourself here to discover the areas surrounding Adelaide- then this is ideal. Making arrangements for the exchange has been a pleasure and all arrangements for car swaps, keys etc have all gone smoothly. On our return, we found our home had been left in perfect condition . If you are lucky enough to be able to exchange here, we would highly recommend it.. A very successful exchange within Aus!
We have just returned from a great two weeks at Vicki and Alan’s beautiful Buderim house. Everything went really well, and right from the first contact Vicki was very helpful. The large decks around this spacious home and many seating areas meant that we could have wonderful winter sun at any time of the day, whilst admiring the lovely views and listening to the song of the birds. Buderim is a great small town with a village atmosphere and being on a hill the views are spectacular. There is so much to do on the Sunshine Coast, summer or as in our case winter. The hinterland villages are really charming with lots of great places to browse and try delicious foods. We enjoyed really good walks long and short in the rain forests. We had fun on some of the many good golf courses around and the beautiful beaches were great to stroll along. Vicki and Alan left our home and car very clean and tidy. It was a great exchange.
We have just spent a thoroughly enjoyable two weeks at patsy and peters lovely country property at merrijig in nthn victoria. This home is located in a beautiful high position with extensive rural views and at the end of a dead end road so the peace abounds. Kangaroos, deer and bunnies are your only close neighbours... Although real neighbours quietly delivered eggs to our front door from the property’s obliging chooks. Merrijig is a great place to stay in all seasons with the snow fields close by in winter , rail trails, walking tracks , wineries etc, rivers and swimming holes all within easy reach..all of which we did and thoroughly enjoyed.(except swimming in winter) The home is large and very comfortable and on good days when the weather obliges, sitting on the deck is a treat! Otherwise there is the fire to enjoy! Patsy and Peter have been a pleasure to communicate with and as an exchangers you will find this is a very positive and happy exchange. They left our home very clean and tidy.
Two of us were brought to tears at the beauty of Vicki and Allen's location and surrounds. Subtropics! Their gorgeous home is surrounded by lush vegetation which we enjoyed in total privacy. Numerous and varied birds sang to us each morning whilst we enjoyed breakfast in one of their outside living spaces. Their home is beautiful. Our hosts communicated perfectly before, during and after our stay to make it a most memorable first visit to another home. All tips/suggestions exacting. Vicki and Allen are a test to living life well and to the fullest. All the best from Tasmania-Jill and Andrew
