Living in such a central area in Paris is a priviledge. We enjoyed the appartment (small but clear and comfortable) and we could use their bike, as we did frequently. A high standard commercial street for your daily shoppings around the corner is very nice, and we like to thank Thomas and Sandrine extra for arranging the parking place under the building. As we put our little boys in bed early we did not celebrate nightlife, but instead we went through their comprehensive collection of dvds and watched tv using the very high standard hifi system :-) The cat we took care of was shy and sweet.

What we said about Bart and Jiska's house:

We had a great time at Bart and Jiska's. Their house is located in a great neighbourhood, very close to the tram, which was really practical for us (we like to use public transport instead of the car). Their house is wonderfully equipped (what a great kitchen!) and they provided us with very useful information about the city. We highly recommend any exchange with this family who left our apartment in an impeccable state.

We spent a beautiful week in Paris, staying in the apartment of the Hayters. We met them beforehand at our house in The Hague. We immediately clicked; the Hayters are friendly and open people, interested in literature, art, film and music. He is an English teacher coming from an artistic family, and she is a cellist. Their apartment, centrally located in the Montparnasse area, is only a few steps away from the lovely Daguerre Street, a neighbourhood meeting place with little shops, cosy cafes and restaurants. A block away is the famous Montparnasse Cemetery where people like Sartre, De Beauvoir, Beckett, Susan Sontag, etc are buried - definitely worth a visit. So is the Montparnasse Tower from where you have a magnificent view of all of Paris. From the apartment access was easy to the rest of Paris as the metro station is just around the corner, as well as the RER and train station. During our visit we had lovely summer weather and could have all our meals outside in the communal garden of the apartment. The apartment of the Hayters is a lovely base from where to explore Paris.

What we said about Family from The Hague's house:

We had an amazing time at Jaap and Annemarie's house which is located in a great neighbourhood of The Hague. Their house is a perfect spot to explore the city and its museums and go to the beach, the best of both worlds. We were lucky enough to meet Jaap and Anne Marie which gave an added human warmth to our stay. We wholeheartedly recommend any family who would like to exchange with this great house (very neatly arranged) and these great people.
