Was Sie an dieser Unterkunft lieben werden

Our house is in a quiet residential area on Harbour Road, so as you would expect, it has lovely views of the Great Sound! We have 100 metres of private waterfront accessed by a short path just across the road from our house. There is an assortment of kayaks and those with proven sailing experience may use our Laser or even our catamaran. We also have lots of snorkel gear. Our dock is a great place to cool off in the summer. The house itself is mostly very old (18th century) with exposed cedar beams in the dining room and kitchen and in one of the downstairs bedrooms. There is a newer extension with two bedrooms (one queen in each) and a bathroom. Upstairs, in the older part of the house, there is a large sitting room and another bedroom (queen) with ensuite bathroom. The building is actually semi-detached: we live in the western half of the house, my mother lives in the eastern half. However, the two homes are entirely separate, with their own driveways and entrances. Our favourite place is the shady south-facing porch, which is set in a walled and gated courtyard with its own fishpond and Koi. There is also a large garden with plenty of garden furniture, so you can sit out and enjoy spectacular sunsets over the harbour with an evening drink or dinner. If you are lucky there may be some vegetables to pick in the vegetable patch. Though the house is old, we have all modern amenities including air-conditioning, dishwasher, dryer etc. We don't have a TV but love to watch movies, so we have Netflix, a DVD player and a projector, which projects onto the steeply sloped tray ceiling of the living room, providing a great home cinema experience. Sports fans note that there is no cable! To watch news or sports you can hook up your own wireless tablet or laptop to the projector. Our house adjoins 6 acres of woodland belonging to Bermuda National Trust – the perfect place for tranquil daily morning walks.

Bermuda is small – only 22 square miles - so the whole island is our neighbourhood. It is a fabulous destination if you enjoy the sea and sun. Warwick Parish, where our home is located, has the best beaches in Bermuda and yes, the sand is slightly pink and the water turquoise! We’ve seen a lot of beaches in all parts of the world, but none compare to Bermuda’s so far. The nearest beach is 20 minutes walk away, but in the middle of summer it is a hot walk – you will probably want to take a cab home. You can’t use our car because only Bermuda-license holders are allowed to drive, but there are now little electric two-seaters for rent. There are also lots of scooter rental companies with good deals for rentals of a week or two. There also bus and ferry services. A 5-minute walk through the woods will take you to a bus stop. The nearest ferry stop is about 20 minutes walk away and will take you into the capital, Hamilton, from which you can reach anywhere on the island. If you get tired of the beaches, there are a number of interesting places to visit, including the Aquarium, the Crystal Caves, the Maritime Museum and the historic old town of St George’s. As a fortress island Bermuda also has a great number of splendid forts. And of course there are plenty of great golf courses with spectacular views. Bermuda has a population of just 65,000 but despite its small size is very cosmopolitan with a diverse range of restaurants and eateries.
