Michelle tells us about her lovely exchange to Hawaii, where she stayed in a wonderful home overlooking the water.
How did you find your exchange?
I contacted a member from the HomeExchange community.
What attracted you to this exchange opportunity?
I wanted to go to Hawaii. I loved the idea of a house overlooking the ocean. This home was the perfect fit.
How was your arrival at the home?
We didn't meet the hosts but they gave us a ton of tips, and their cell phone numbers. We did meet the couple who managed their home. They were a delightful couple who lived very close by and they were a tremendous help. In fact, they invited us to come over for a dip in their swimming pool overlooking the ocean and they were wonderful hosts.
What did you see or do during your exchange?
We went non-stop during this vacation! Snorkeling with the dolphins. Snorkeling at the reef. Night snorkeling with the manta rays (which I swore I would not do) and this was an unforgettable experience. Another thing I swore I would not do was go on the zip line.
And I did that too! It was terrifying and exhilarating all at the same time. We started in Kona, then went to our lovely house on the cliff in Milloli. Spent the night at Volcano Village (no lava) and another day in Hilo (zip line over glorious waterfalls and rain forest), then a walk in the rain forest and back to Milloli. More beach and snorkeling till we dropped, then finally home to Los Angeles.
What is your favorite memory from the exchange?
Being with my friends in a lovely home. Meeting awesome people. Going beyond my fear (twice!). Being in nature.
How would you describe home exchange to your family and friends?
I love it! I have told all my friends about it and continue to do so.
