My First Home Exchange Story: Lakeside near Atlanta, Georgia

When I first looked for a home exchange site I was a little dubious of the idea of giving my home up to total strangers. Would I return to find the neighbors up in arms, the cutlery missing and the house in disarray? The site which seemed to be most popular was HomeExchange, so I took the plunge and together with my husband Christos we became members of the network.

Christos is an avid traveler and has always been the instigator of our many trips abroad. He would always look for opportunities to find the most independent and personalized way of seeing and enjoying each destination we went to. So with the advent of the internet, it was an ideal way for him to plan and book our holidays without the restrictions of travel agents and lack of flexibility in the itinerary. Home exchange was the ideal solution to open up new avenues of travel and spark inspiration with the idea of swapping your everyday environment with somebody who's everyday environment is totally unknown to you.

Thus we found Cathy!
Our visit to Cathy's lakeside home in Atlanta turned out to be one of the most memorable in our trips to the US and far above our already high expectations. This pot of gold at the end of the rainbow truly became our home for the next ten days. Lying in the midst of tall pine trees in a beautiful peaceful neighborhood the house is a joy to behold. Despite our long trip, on our arrival at Cathy’s house (at
midnight by taxi from Atlanta airport and following a transatlantic trip from Greece), we felt immediately at home.

Waking up to the sound of a morning chorus and seeing the sunrise through those lofty trees was an instant remedy to our long journey. Discovering all the artistic and inspirational niches in the house, which is spacious and allows for everyone’s privacy, is on its own a reason to visit Cathy’s house.

Add to that her hospitality and thoughtfulness for whatever you could need, I would say that Cathy’s Charming Artistic Golden Pond – Atlanta – GA USA beautiful lakefront home is a welcoming call to visit Atlanta, Georgia. As the two couples who visited Cathy in Atlanta, September 2018, Christos (recently retired Head Transportation Engineer in Athens Transport Corporation), Spyros (recently retired Managing Director in Commerce), Frances and Maria we cannot recommend this haven in Atlanta more highly.
