Our Neighborhood
http://www.bellingham.org/
Living near downtown, we often ride our bicycles (available to you) to the local indie movie theater or to one of the many nice restaurants (The best mole outside of Mexico can be found at Taco Lobo!) From downtown, you can go a step further to one of a number of great waterfront parks in Bellingham. Or you could step into the historical Fairhaven section on the southside for great shopping (Can't beat the independent Village Books). From Fairhaven, get on a foot ferry to the San Juans or Victoria on Vancouver Island, or maybe go whale watching. You could take one of the charter sail boats in town for an evening cruise.
If you are into sporting activities, kitesurf or kayak on the bay, mt. bike on Galbraith Mt. on the east side of town, run the trails of Chuckanut Mt. or walk the greenways of Bellingham itself. We have tons of parks for you and your family to play in.
Now go East...Washington Route 542, Mt. Baker Highway and the North Cascades. Amazing range. The snowboarding/skiing opportunities at our local mountain, Mt. Baker are fantastic. On a clear day, bask under the peaks of Mt. Shuksan and Mt. Baker itself. Summer hiking and climbing is tremendous, too.
Shoot north 1 hour to land in Vancouver, a world-class city. Day trips to this fun town are easy and the cultural choices are amazing...from UBC's facinating Anthropology Museum which highlights First Nations' Art to great shows at the Commodore. Carry on another 1.5 hours to Whistler.
Finally, go south. Consistently one of the highest rated cruising byways in the U.S. for scenery is Chuckanut Drive. It drops you down into scenic Bow and Edison with some fantastic bakeries and pubs.
Or go south on Interstate-5, 1.5 hours to Seattle. More great music, food, museums and sports fun.

School teacher and firefighter...summer is best, but spring break, 1st full week of April is good. We travel loads in the summer, so we can be flexible with non-simultaneous exchanges.

Pretty Open for Now. Europe, South America, New Zealand, Australia would be nice...or?
Otherwise, we think it is fun to do 2 or 3 day exchanges to destnations within driving distances...a weekend in Vancouver, Whislter or Victoria? Withrop...Mazama....or ?

About Us
We love our home and take good care of it. We hope to match with folks who will treat it likewise. For what it's worth, we are open to hosting folks while we're here as well. If that happens in the summer, we have a bay boat to head out to the San Juan islands. We mountain bike, road bike, trail run, hike, kite surf and climb a bit and could show you around in those areas, too.
