Our Home

My home is very comfortable. There is a gas fireplace in the living room along with satellite tv and built-in ceiling speakers hooked up to the stereo and the tv. The kitchen has butcher block countertops and a gas range. The entire downstairs has radiant heat in the floors and feels great in the winter.

The upstairs bedrooms (master and son's rooms) are cozy with sloped ceilings and skylights. The downstairs bedroom has its own connected bathroom, so there are essentially 2 master suites. In total, there are 3 beds and a couch for sleeping. The master bedroom has a queen, the downstairs bedroom has a full, and the upstairs (son's) room has a twin.

We have a Wii, instant Netflix, lots of board games and puzzles, a guitar, and a ping pong table and hammock in the backyard.

Our Neighborhood

The house is only a few blocks from downtown Moscow and is walking distance to many places in Moscow. It's in a friendly residential neighborhood in a part of Moscow that is full of small, cute, older homes. It's only a few blocks away from downtown Moscow and the U of I campus. There are always people walking by, so if you're feeling social, it's a great place to hang out on the porch and meet new people.

Moscow, home to the University of Idaho, is a progressive, friendly college town of approximately 25,000 people. There is a beautiful rails to trails bike path about 3 blocks from the house that goes 13 miles east to Troy, Idaho, or 9 miles west into Pullman, Washington, home of Washington State University. Nowhere else are 2 land grant universities so physically close to one another...at least that's what I've heard.

Moscow is called the "Heart of the Arts" and is included in the book "The 100 Best Small Art Towns in America". It has live theater, live music, independent and foreign films downtown and on campus, museums, galleries, bookstores, and coffeehouses. In addition to Moscow's artsy side, there are plenty of college sports to keep you entertained for both the University of Idaho Vandals and Washington State University Cougars.

Lewiston is 40 miles to the south, where you can hire an outfitter for a trip through Hells Canyon. Lake Coeur d'Alene is 1.5 hrs to the north and is a beautiful area to spend the day.

This is a very popular area for landscape photography.

Our Destinations

Open to any destination, especially non-touristy, beautiful, friendly areas of the world, which by the way, describes Moscow, Idaho.

Because of allergies, I can't do any exchanges with families with indoor furry or feathered pets. I'm happy to take care of any outdoor animals though.

About Us

I'm Sharon, a bookkeeper and a guesthouse proprietor. Nikki and Jack, ages 18 and 12 respectively, are my children, and they may come with me for the exchange or it may just be me and possibly a friend.

We have a turtle that could either stay here or go somewhere else during the exchange, but he's really easy to take care of.
