BARCELONA

Our flat is about 90 sq meters and it is on a 2nd floor of a building with just 4 flats. Our house has a simple and modern style. It has one bedroom with wooden floor and a kid bedroom with cot (also toddler bed, if needed), changing table, toys, and a futton-style sofa where can sleep two. It also has two bathooms, one ensuite with a tub and the other with shower, a large living room with tv, lots of movies, stereo hi-fi, and high chair. The kitchen is well equiped with induction cooktop, oven, microwave oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, and a small table with two chairs.

All the house has natural light, it also has heating and air conditioned.

The living room has one balcony facing the street and a nice and spacious terrace of 90 sq meters on the top. We have a hammock, table, chairs, an umbrella... all the necessary stuff to allow you enjoy Barcelona's sun.

The exchange would include that a person came once a week to do the cleaning.

The house is in the nice neighbourhood of Gràcia, known for its character, with nice bars and cafes, cinemas, and lots of restaurants. Recently, it's been the area where young designers settle. Nevertheless, it is a very quiet, warm and friendly neighbourhood.

Our apartment is very close and well connected to the city centre, as well as the beaches. Closest underground stations are: Fontana (Line 3, green) and Joanic (Line 4, yellow).

COSTA BRAVA

Apartment of 2 bedrooms (sleeps 4), 2 bathrooms, fully equiped kitchen (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer), living room and small terrace in Torroella de Montgrí, 5km from the beaches of Estartit, Pals, etc.

All exterior, and very sunny. With heating and air conditioned in all rooms.

It is on the 3rd floor of a building with elevator.

BARCELONA

Gracia is a very idiosyncratic area of Barcelona. It used to be originally a town, which later became part of Barcelona when it extended. In consequence, the neighbourhood structure is quite different from the rest of the city: narrow streets, many squares, with terraces, cafes... old buildings coexisting with very modern ones... very interesting to walk around.

It is usually an area to go out in the evening, because of the wide range of good restaurants, cafes, and bars. The very famous Verdi Cinemas, known for the independent films shown there, on original subtitled version, also attract many people.

Apart from design shops, you will also find grocery shops, and there's a food market in less than a 5-minute walk.

The flat is in walking distance from Gaudi's La Pedrera, Parc Guell and Sagrada Familia, and has two metro stations in walking distance, as well as bus stops with a wide range of bus lines access.


BEACH APPARTMENT (TORROELLA DE MONTGRÍ, GIRONA)

Torroella de Montgrí is a medieval town of 7000 inhabitants in the heart of Costa Brava and the region of Empordà, at the base of the 300-meter mountain of Montgrí, a great hiking area. It is also 6 km away from the beach of l’Estartit and the Medes islands, a scuba diving paradise of the Catalan coast. You can find more information on (only in Catalan): www.torroellaestartit.com.

Apart from the attractiveness of being so close to the sea it is a perfect area for discovering other medieval towns, such as Pals, Peratallada, Madremanya, Monells..., as well as the Iberian remains of Ullastret and the Empuries greco-roman city. For more information: www.mac.cat/cat/seus.

Other interesting day trips can be the city of Girona (know for its Arab and Jewish past and its Romanesque and Gothic churches) (www.ajuntament.gi/turisme); the city of Figueres (www.figueresciutat.com), with the Dalí Museum (www.salvador-dali.org), and Cadaqués (www.cadaques.org), picturesque village where he was born, near the impressive Romanesque monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes (www.mhcat.net).

No elevator, our flat is on the 2nd floor.

Would ask you to watch our plants, especially in summer, and water them if they need it.

Our beach apartment is available any time of the year, and non-simultaneous exchange is possible.

We are tight to school vacations but, apart from that, we are open to offers.


We are currently looking for our next summer holidays (August 2013). We would love somewhere in the countryside in France or Italy (preferably with pool).

We would also love to go to a coastal destination (Greece, Croatia...).


We are also looking for a weekend exchange on July 13 and 24 in Rome. We would come without the child.

We are Pere and Anna, both in our early thirties, university graduates in Political Sciences and working on the public administration, Pere on urban issues and Anna on civic participation.

We have a little baby boy, Martí, born in September 2010.

We both like very much to travel, have lived and studied in London, love cinema, the beach, cycling, cooking and gastronomy. We have done more than ten exchanges, all of them fantastic experiences.

We also have a nice little kitty, Matilda, who will love if you play with her and give her some love. She is very likeable and doesn't bother much.
