Our home in South Orange, New Jersey is just a short ride from midtown Manhattan, New York City. It dates to the 1880's and is a key property on the National Registry of Historic Buildings. Although just a 25 minute train ride from the city, the property allows privacy and ample recreation. Our property includes the original carriage house and a private heated in-ground pool and garden area.

Our first floor includes a library, dining room, living room, kitchen, breakfast area and formal entry hall. The second floor foyer has an additional seating area leading to three bedrooms and an office. The master bedroom with a queen bed, fireplace and full bath is on this floor along with a queen guest room with fireplace, a third bedroom with a full size bed and an office with wi-fi capability. The third floor has four additional bedrooms, three rooms with twin beds and a third room with a full size bed. The third floor also contains its own bathroom, with a shower and a large claw foot tub.

The basement contains a game room, recreation room and a sauna. The recreation rooom also has an antique pinball machine, an airhockey table and an arcade basketball game as well as a game room with TV/DVD and a pull out couch and a full size futon for additional sleeping. The basement has its own private rear entrance and a full bathroom with a shower.

The outdoor garden area includes a private in-ground pool with chaise lounges. The rear garden also includes two dining areas and an outdoor grill.

The front of our house has a deep wrap around porch that is a wonderful spot to enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon cocktails. The porch is furnished with outdoor furniture and a double porch swing.

The property has a carriage house which contains a ping-pong table and a multitude of other various outdoor games and pool toys.

The gardener will come once per week to care for the yard and a cleaning/maid service is available to assist you.

The vehicles available for exchange include an Chrysler Pacifica (seats 6).

We live in a New York City suburban town that allows for easy access to Manhattan as well as the New Jersey beach areas. We are 15 minutes drive from Newark Airport. Our town has many nice shops, a theater, several pubs and cafes, many nice restaurants and several art galleries. We are a short walk or quick drive to a commuter train that will take you to midtown Manhattan, NYC within 25 minutes. During the summer months, you can also drive and spend a pleasant day at the New Jersey beach shore to enjoy the beautiful waters of the Atlantic Ocean. It is also possible to take trips to Washington, DC, Philadelphia, or Boston.

Primarily limited to school vacations and long holiday weekends. We have already arranged an exchange for this summer but are looking to plan for 2013 - would prefer to travel to Central America, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, Caribbean, or somewhere interesting in the USA -Hawaii and California beach towns are high on our list -- we would also like to plan a trip to Quebec at some point.

We just learned that we will be traveling to Southern California from July 2 to 10. Seeking a nice location - San Diego, Santa Barbara, open to suggestions....only need accommodation for three during this period.

We are seeking ski vacation destinations in the US.
We have already arranged an exchange to Martinique for this summer (2012) but are open to planning for the summer of 2013 and are open to suggestions! We would prefer to exchange to the Carribean, Turkey, Morocco, South Africa, Central America, Hawaii or somewhere interesting in the USA.

Jerry and I (Jen) are both attorneys. Jerry works in a private firm handling various civil matters and I am employed as a Child Advocate. We have three well behaved children, Chloe who is 16 years old, Patrick who is 15 years old and Katie who is 11 years old. Our children are "well-traveled" and are anxious to welcome others, particularly other children, into our home. They are respectful of our home and will be as respectful, in not more respectful, of your home. We have had a many very successful home exchanges (France, Ireland, Spain, Arizona, West Virginia, Seattle, British Columbia, Florida, Martinique) as well as hospitality exchanges (Costa Rica and France) and are looking forward to the opportunity to arrange our next exchange soon.
