Our Home
An attractively decorated, comfortable 2 bedroom apartment in a 100 year old classical town house of Frederiksberg, a charming village-like municipality within the city of Copenhagen. Within walking distance (10-15 min.) from the Centre of Copenhagen with Tivoli, the pedestrian street "Strøget" and easy public transportation to all other attractions of the city. Shops, restaurants, the very popular Frederiksberg Town Hall flea market are all within a walking distance. You will be in Copenhagen but feel as if you are living in the province.
And why not split your stay between our summer house in NW Zealand and the city?

Our Neighborhood
One of the former kings of Denmark, Frederik VI, chose Frederiksberg as his summer residence and the many of the sites still have an "aristocratic" atmosphere about them. Enjoy a stroll in Frederiksberg Gardens where the inhabitants, dressed in white and wearing straw hats, picnic in style on special occasions on red&white checkered tablecloths. The Zoo right next to the gardens will thrill the children. Discover a typical Danish "frokost", with rye bread, different kinds of herring, smoked eel, meatballs, roast pork etc. with the traditional beer and schnaps in one of the small "family garden" of Frederiksberg or the charming restaurant "Sans Soucis". You will feel at home in this charming neighbourhood and be only 10-15 minutes away from the neighbouring former working class Vesterbro, Norrebro with its many immigrants and their quaint shops, and the Centre of Copenhagen, a city you can only enjoy without a car, i.e. on foot or a bike.

Our Dates
We are looking for a home-exchange in Reykjavik, Iceland in late May, early June in 2011.
We generally prefer to spend our main summer vacation in the spring (Easter) or fall - September/October. Long week-ends in European capitals can be considered anytime.
Our Destinations
We come from Iceland and need to see our family there from time to time and have grown out of squatting with the family, would prefer some privacy.
France has been our second home for a long time, and we are now seriously considering retiring there 6-7 years from now. The areas we would like to explore are the Northern part of the Midi-Pyrénées (Tarn et Garonne, Tarn, Lot), the Aquitaine (Dordogne) and Bretagne. Offers from these regions would be very welcome.
Our vacations are often linked to family events in Iceland, but we are very eager to try more exotic destinations outside of Europe. We prefer either an apartment close to a city centre or a small village house/apartment within walking distance from the baker, butcher, grocer, bistrot etc. so that we can spend our evening with the locals and walk home. We like to be independent of the car while on vacation and therefore we avoid the suburbs or isolated places.
About Us
We are an Icelandic couple in in our mid-fifties. Magnus works as a mechanic with Citroen, the French car make which is not only his livelihood but also his passion. Regina works with UNDP, the United Nations Development Fund, a workplace with approximately 60 nationalities. We both share an interest in history, both past and present (news) as well as music (ranging from opera to country, passing through rock, folk music, etc.). Life is too short for boring and bad food, so we use quite a bit of time on cooking and eating well. Our cat, Kashmir, came into our lives during the earthquake in Pakistan in November 2005. He is very loving and would welcome home exchangers that could give him some company and care during their stay.
