Our Home

This beautiful heritage villa is located in the charming village of Saligao just minutes away from the beaches of Calungute. It's been carefully restored with the help of our restoration architect to provide modern comfort while still retaining the home's original beauty. It has 5 bedrooms (1 loft, 3 ensuite bedrooms, 1 small bedroom) and easily sleeps 10. 3 of the bedrooms are 'master bedrooms' so it's well suited to groups of friends or families. Guests says it is 'rustic luxury'. It has been beautifully decorated with antique pieces to retain the charm of the heritage property. The result though is a charming place where you can relax -- not a museum. We have put a lot of love into making this a beautiful and relaxing place and want to swap with people who can appreciate the beauty and aesthetics of this tropical property.

The house is set in a fantastic tropical garden with mango, chickoo and guava trees and has a wonderful in-ground swimming pool. We recently made three bedrooms ensuite with luxurious bathrooms (two with walk in shower and one with a tub).

This century home has soaring ceilings, a large wrap around porch (perfect for relaxing!) and tons of character and atmosphere. The house comes with a housekeeper, maid, and groundskeeper to take care of guests. Slama - the cook, stays in a separate cottage on the property. He has also lived in France so knows Indian as well as continental cooking. He will gladly take care of meal preparation and purchase groceries for guests if required.

The house has a fully equipped kitchen, TV and DVD player, CD player. The house is child friendly and has some baby gear(crib, booster seat, stroller etc) along with a swing set and sandpit. Our housekeeper is a great baby-sitter - kids love him. Massage can be arranged at the house.

The house is cleaned daily and linens are changed once per week (or more if required). A car (with or without driver) can be arranged at additional charge.

Our Neighborhood

Saligao is a small village of about 5000 people that is just 10 kms from Panjim the capital of Goa, and 3 kms from the world famous Calangute beach. It's a charming village with stretches of open paddy fields and coconut groves lining the narrow roads. The village is full of charm with traditional homes nestled close to each other on small laneways surrounded by greenery.

There is a lovely restaurant and pub that is a short walk from the house and a famous local spring said to have medicinal properties. The Saligao church is a UNESCO world heritage site and it's just a short walk through rice fields from our house. The Saligao ayurvedic and yoga centre is also an easy walk. Saligao provides all the charm of a small traditional village but is minutes away from great beaches, wonderful restaurants and great shopping that make Goa a famous holiday destination.

About Us

We are an Indo-Danish and Canadian family currently based in New Delhi. We have always loved Goa and dreamed of owning a traditional villa there. We finally found the perfect place and bought and restored this home a few years ago. I work in International Development and my husband has his own travel company and boutique hotel (in Kashmir). We have two small children so the house comes with various kiddie items (crib, booster seat, stroller etc). The house is taken care of by a full time caretaker, cook, and gardener. We also rent out the house when we are not using it. We also have a vacation property in Jekyll Island, USA.
