Our Home
Guests have called our house a "slice of heaven on earth"... a "beautiful retreat". The 2,400 square foot house has 4 bedrooms and 3 1/2 baths, with 2 ensuite master bedrooms and 2 smaller bedrooms which share a bathroom. There is a 12' X 42' sundeck and a 12' X 24' screened porch. There are no homes on either side of us and the house is on 1/2 acre so there is quiet and privacy. The easy walk to the beach is by path and the beach is uncrowded because use is limited to nearby residents. The house is wonderful during any season!

Our Neighborhood
Southern Shores extends from ocean to sound and includes a soundside bathing beach with calm waters as well as the Atlantic Ocean beaches. In addition to fishing, crabbing and boating and a variety of water sports, our area is fabulous for biking, walking, exploring lighthouses and enjoying beautiful sunsets. Our community, which is called Chicahauk, has private tennis courts and a playground. The Outer Banks has many natural and historic attractions, including the Wright Brothers National Memorial, Hattaras, Ocracoke and the Lost Colony and the Elizabethan Gardens(see http://www.outerbanks.org/).

Other Information
We live in Chevy Chase, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC and accessible by Metro (which is in walking distance of our house). We would consider exchanging our primary residence. There is also the possibility of hosting bed and breakfast guests at our beach house.

About Us
My husband is retired from his job as a Federal government attorney and I recently retired from County government where I worked as an advocate for domestic violent victims. I am now a travel consultant and I specialize in creating itineraries for independent tourists who are particularly interested in European travel. We are both active community volunteers. We have two adult children and three little grandsons. On occasion, they might be interested in accompanying us on an exchange.
