Our Home
Our swahili house is located in the charming little village of shela, just 100 meters from the sea front.
Built recently, on 3 floors around an open courtyard, the 5 bedrooms can sleep up to 10 people. Each room is self contained and has a king size bed. There are sitting areas on each floor to provide privacy to everyone. The roof top terrace overlooks the sea and dunes and provides additional lounging areas with a moroccan style corner and a swing bed.
The house staff is composed of a cook and a room steward. All linen is provided.

Our Neighborhood
200 km north of Mombasa, on the equator line, the kenyan island of lamu is surely the best kept secret on the east african coast.
“Lamu is the oldest and best preserved swahili settlement in east africa” unesco
set in an archipelago of coral fringed islands, lamu town was a trading centre for spices and ivory for one hundred years. This tradition has contributed to the swahili culture, a mix of african, arabian and indian influence. there are no cars on the island and transport is by dhow (traditional african sailing boat) , donkey or foot.
Shela village is a tangle of narrow sandy lanes, stone houses covered with makuti thatched roof, mosques, ruins and spacious squares edged with small shops. Shela beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. it’s crescent shape offers 12 kms of golden sand on the indian ocean. It is ideal for swimming, Wind surfing, Sailing, Kite Surfing.....

About Us
My wife, Charlotte, is swedish and I am french. We both were involved in the fashion industry as fashion designers in Paris. We left france to come and experience another type of life in Kenya. We live most of the time just outside Nairobi, in the beautiful area of Karen where our kids go to school.
We have 3 kids all boys(19, 17, 8 years old).
We love to travel around the world and especially go camping in the wild african bush.
