Our home is a modern, comfortable, air conditioned, 2 storey town house in a small group of very quiet, secure homes near to the centre of Perth city. On the ground floor is a well appointed kitchen, dining area, laundry and a lounge room with a home cinema system including a plasma TV, PVR, blu-ray player, 5 channel sound and a CD player. There is a small garden courtyard with an outdoor dinning area, a barbeque, and a double garage. On the first floor there are three large bedrooms, one that is used as a study with high speed wireless internet connection, and 2 bathrooms. There is also a balcony with partial city views.

Perth is in the south west of Australia and is the capital city of the state of Western Australia. It is a small, (1. 7 million people) user friendly city as described by some of our international visitors. The city is a gateway to spectacular karri forests, wineries and beaches of the south, and the vast wilderness of the northwest.

As we live in the city there are restaurants, cafes, bars, cinemas, theatres, clubs, the city business and shopping centre, the central train station and grocery shopping all within a 5 to 15 minute walk. We are also within a short walking distance from the Swan River and many sports facilities such as golf, tennis, horseracing, health clubs, walking and cycling trails (two bicycles are available for use), beautiful parks including Kings Park with it’s spectacular city and river views and Hyde Park. Perth’s beautiful beaches are a short drive away or accessible by public transport.

A taxi from the airport will cost about $A48. Another option is the airport shuttle as our home is in the inner city area. Our very friendly neighbour or nearby friends will show you around our home and answer any questions if necessary. We are prepared to exchange cars. There are a few pot plants to be watered.

As our home is really only suitable for 2 couples (1 king bed room and 1 double bed room) and possibly a fifth adult on a folder bed in the study, we prefer to have no children in an exchange.

Next southern hemisphere summer (Dec 2013 and Jan 2014) we are seeking an 8 week northern hemisphere exchange in London, Paris, New York or San Francisco.

We would also consider any offers to reasonable sized cities in North America or Western Europe.

We would be happy to exchange to the inner suburbs of Melbourne or Sydney, Australia during school holidays.

Gavin (60) is an engineer working in the renewable energy industry, mainly involved in wind farm projects around Western Australia. Roslyn (54) is a primary school teacher. We are both still working fulltime in our professions. We enjoy studying French, museums, theatre, and the culture and lifestyles of other places. We particularly enjoy cold climates and snow skiing and hope to include some skiing in our holidays.
