Our Home

CAPE COD/Plymouth: Our brand new, waterfront condo is set on a heavily landscaped complex of 3000 acres only minutes from Cape Cod or the swimming beaches, downtown and entertainment of Plymouth. You will have the use of our kayak which you can put in the water near our back door. With 2 large bedrooms with a queen bed in each, a loft with a double futon for 2 children and 2 1/2 baths, everyone has privacy, but with ample dining, living room and family room space for family gatherings. In summer, you can sit on the deck gazing at the water with a glass of wine after a day of swimming or boating, and BBQ and eat right there. A large, well applianced, kitchen makes cooking easy. There is natural light flooding the whole unit with cathedral ceilings throughout and a skylit kitchen. Ceiling fans and central AC cools if necessary, and breezes over the water waft through the large windows throughout the house. There is also a gas fireplace in the family room, and central heat vents for cooler weather.

Our Neighborhood

Plymouth is a year-round community with a wonderful downtown, many beaches, and cultural opportunities, and is only 8 miles from Cape Cod. It is nationally known as America's First Hometown, with Plimoth Plantation depicting village life of the first Pilgrim settlers in 1621. Pilgrim re-enactors work in the village in historical costume and engage visitors about their everyday customs in the language of their time. Nearby, there is also a re-creation of a native American village as well. A reproduction of the Mayflower, the boat used by the Puritans to escape religious persecution in England, sits in Plymouth Harbor and can be boarded for an historical tour.

Plymouth, itself, is a coastal community of 56,000 people and is ideally situated, only 8 minutes to Cape Cod and less than an hour to Boston by car, commuter rail or bus. All of Cape Cod is easily accessible by highway, which is just 5 minutes from our door.

Our complex is a 3000 acre mixed use community with 7 miles of walking trails, 2 champonship golf courses (highest ranked in New England), a swimming pool, ponds, boating and a new, all-inclusive fitness center. There are a supermarket, 3 restaurants and other retail stores on the premises, plus 4 malls within 15 minutes or less of our home. We are also only 4 miles from charming Plymouth downtown with gourmet restaurants, retail and antique shops with a nautical flair, and historic venues that bring visitors from far and wide to town. A 45 minute ferry ride will take you to Martha's Vineyard from Falmouth, about a 35 minute car ride from here. We are also easily accessible to the other 14 Cape Cod towns and the island of Nantucket.

You will find concerts and community theatres in abundance in Plymouth and all over the Cape, as well as nature programs, museums and child centered activities. Miles Standish State Park occupies about 1/3 of the land in Plymouth, affording hiking and picnicing opportunities throughout the spring, summer and fall. Each season has its own delights, with summer being the most intense, and winter bringing inspiration and calm to writers, artists and other creative, kindred spirits.

Other Information

The whole of Cape Cod is easily accessible from Plymouth, with its unique array of beaches, charming villages and shops, world class seafood, art galleries galore, and an overwhelming choice of entertainment in community theatres, concert halls and museums. There are many children's activities in each of the villages with festivals, library programs, and water activities. However, unlike the Cape, Plymouth is a year round community, so most everything is open during all four seasons, and the "shoulder seasons" have special delights of their own.

Our Dates

Can travel almost anytime for long weekends and one or two weeks at a time. However, we usually don't want to be in a crowded city at the height of tourist season or in the heat or high humidity. If we're driving, we'd love to bring our beagle mix pooch, but it's not a necessity. We'd love it if you could care for our very sweet, gentle cat, Mandy and our plants.

Our Destinations

Would be open to traveling almost anywhere, but are especially interested in New York to visit our boys, Hawaii for a week or two; during the winter, long weekends to places we can reach by car (Boston, the Berkshires, the CT Shore, and northern New England states) and Victoria/Vancouver, Canada is good too as is all of western Europe. Tempt us!

About Us

View Feedback About My Exchanges

We are a family of 2 adults with a dog and a cat. Our 3 adult children are on their own in NY and Maine where each is happily pursuing his/her individual interests: Seth, 40, is a real estate rental agent/web designer who lives and works in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Dana, 39 is a high tech stock analyst for a small investment firm and lives in Manhattan, and Turil, 42, is a budding philosophy counselor who lives in a small town, in Maine. No grandchildren yet, so we spoil our pets accordingly!

Janet is a newly retired former fundraiser for environmental organizations and a university, and Jim is a semi-retired architect. How long we will stay retired is still an open question. But we finally have time for our favorite pastime...travel. Most of the time there would be just the two of us in our party, though occasionally we'd be traveling with another couple, either family or friends. We would also love to bring our 10 yr. old, well behaved beagle, Daisy, and have you look after our very gentle cat, Mandy.

We are very respectful of other people's property and will leave your home in spotless condition. We hope you'll do the same.
