Our house is a nice, comfortable freestanding family home located 3 km north of Lausanne in a small village of about 5000 habitants surrounded by farmland and forests. From the second floor of our house you have a view of Lake Geneva and the French Alps. The city of Lausanne can be reached within minutes by car or public transportation while Lake Geneva is at a driving distance of just 15 minutes.
On the first floor of our house you’ll find a modern, fully equipped kitchen, large living room with fireplace, a study and a bathroom with shower.
The second floor consists of a master bedroom with private bathroom with shower and bath, 2 children's bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. All bedrooms have access to a balcony with a view of the Alps.
The basement of the house is very spacious with lots of space for children to play. In addition there is a play/guest room with double sofa bed, a food storage, a laundry room with washer and dryer, a hobby room with direct access to the garden and a nuclear shelter (it’s a Swiss house after all).
The house is surrounded by a large fenced garden with covered terrace with dining area and a garden house with Jacuzzi and lounge area. While you relax and enjoy the Swiss wine and cheese, the children can amuse themselves with a trampoline, swings and a soccer goal and an automatic sprinkling system takes care of watering the garden.
Next to the house is a double garage with 1 car available for exchange.

Our home is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne, 3 km north of Lausanne. It is situated in a cul-de-sac, almost 'on top' of a steep road from which you have a nice view of the area. The neighborhood is surrounded by farmland where you can see the Swiss cows at work and forests to which you have direct access by foot. The village offers everything you need (supermarkets, post office, restaurants, bakeries, indoor pool, gym, playgrounds, etc.) and is well served by public transportation. The nearest bus stop you find at a 10 minutes downhill walk from our house.

Lausanne is located in the French speaking part of Switzerland and houses the headquarters of many international companies and organizations, including the Olympic movement. As a result, the people in Lausanne and the Lake Geneva area are very internationally oriented and open minded towards foreigners. So even if your French is not perfect, you will easily find your way around. If you would like to use the exchange to improve your French or learn another foreign language, you will find many renowned language schools in the Lausanne area.

Freeway access is less than 5 minutes. Major cities and tourist attractions can be easily reached: Geneva 45 min, Bern 1hr, Lucern 1.5h, Zurich 2h, Milan 3hours. The Geneva airport is the central hub of Easyjet, a low cost airline with connections to all major European cities.

We are looking for an exchange in Southern California, preferably in or near Santa Barbara. We have lived in Santa Barbara for 2.5 years and would like to visit this area again with our children.

We are a family of four. Marcel (46) is a lecturer at the Swiss Institute of Technology (EPFL) and Elly (44) is a private German language teacher. We have two boys, 9 and 11 years old, that love sports. We are originally Dutch but live already for more than 14 years in Switzerland. We like to travel, visit other countries and go on hikes. We also have a dog, a 6 year old very friendly Irish Terrier that, if you like, can be part of the swap.
