Our Home

On the ground floor there is a comfortable living room, shaker-style kitchen with range cooker, utility room with laundry facilities and a dining room which opens onto the deck and 25’ west-facing garden. The garden is a great place to enjoy sunny summer breakfasts with the newspapers. The floors are the original polished wood and there are period fireplaces in the reception rooms and first floor bedrooms.

On the first floor is the sunny master bedroom with double bed, a child's bedroom with comfortable single bed, a single bedroom used as a study with broadband internet and a small bathroom with bath and shower over. On the second floor there is a family bathroom with large bath and walk-in shower and a loft conversion with twin beds. All beds have comfortable interior sprung mattresses, including the childrens.

Our Neighborhood

East Sheen is nestled between Richmond Park, which has red and fallow deer in 500 acres of royal parkland, and the historic river Thames, where the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race has been held for over a century.

It is a busy and thriving area with many small specialist shops (from chocolatiers to florists) city pubs, children's playgrounds and an excellent selection of restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance.

Richmond-upon-Thames, with its antique shops, quaint houses, historic Victorian theatre, three cinemas, numerous restaurants, village green and riverside vistas, is a 10 minute drive or bus ride away.

Within 5 miles are attractions such as the famous Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, historic Hampton Court Palace, Twickenham Rugby Ground, Fulham Football Club, the Barnes Wetland Centre and Wimbledon Tennis Club.

A frequent train service runs from our local station Mortlake (5 minute walk) into Waterloo, central London (8 miles/20 minutes) where you will find the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and 10 Downing Street. The West End, with its theatre district, shops and restaurants, is 10 minutes from Waterloo by the underground.

You can be on the M4 motorway within 15 minutes so getting out of London by car is easy. Previous exchangers have travelled around the UK using our home as a base visiting places such as Oxford(1hr), the Cotswolds (1.5hrs),
Cambridge (2hrs) and Stratford (2hrs).

Other Information

We are experienced home exchangers and have completed ten successful and enjoyable exchanges.

We have two energetic boys so our house is a comfortable family home. We prefer to exchange with another family with children of a similar age and boys would be ideal. We would not like an exchange with a house full of priceless antiques!

We have a 7 seat VW Golf Touran, with resident’s parking permit, which can be negotiated as part of the exchange and we would like to be able to use your car in return.

We have two children's bikes and two adult bikes available for your use.

Our Destinations

We are looking for somewhere to go cross country skiing between 16th and 24th February.

We would be interested in an exchange at Easter for a week or 10 days between 29th March and 16th April.

We are looking for a summer destination for August 2013 in Europe with warm weather and a pool or near the sea or a lake.

We love living in London but we look for a more rural lifestyle during our home exchanges.

About Us

Robert is an IT Consultant and Phoebe works as an Operations Manager for a medical imaging company. We have two sons, Benedict(10) and Dominic (7). We enjoy travelling and the boys have already visited the USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Hungary and France on our home exchanges. (If we are going on holiday the first question they ask is 'who is coming to stay in our house?') Robert practices aikido so we have made a few visits to Japan so he can study martial arts. We both love to read and have lots of books that you can borrow. Phoebe is allergic to cats so we would not be able to stay in a home which has them. We are non-smokers and would expect our exchange partners to also be non-smokers.
