Our Home

New Update: My home will be AVAILABLE for a NON-SIMULTANEOUS EXCHANGE April 28 - May 13, 2013 as well as Sept. 1-10, 2013. You are welcome to stay at my home during this time frame and in return I would like to "bank" my time at your home for future use. If those dates don't work for you and/or you seek a simultaneous exchange, please send me an email and let's plan a time that works for both of us.

Welcome to your home away from home, a 3000 square foot, 5 bedroom, 3 bath centrally located to ALL San Diego tourist attractions home! Featured in a national decorating magazine, visitors to my home describe it “warm”, “inviting”, “beautifully decorated", “comfortable & contemporary", "artsy" and "bright & airy". Come relax in the splendor of the home and enjoy the swimming pool with its tranquil water-fall as you lounge and dine al fresco amidst lush tropical landscaping. You will feel as though you have been transported to the tropics.

With all of the action-packed fun San Diego has to offer, you will certainly want a warm, inviting, comfortable home to return to and you will find just that in my two-story home. Upon entering you will be greeted by warm tones, soft comfortable furniture, natural sun-light which pours through the plantation shutters and a casual elegance which is sure to put you at ease.

On the first floor there is a formal living room, formal dining as well as a family room which has a 44" high definition television with Tivo and 100's of channel, as well as a full stereo and an ipod speaker system. The bright open kitchen which looks out to both the pool as well as to the family room allows for interaction with your family while you cook. The renovated kitchen has beautiful granite countertops, all appliances (a stove top, oven, convection microwave/oven combo, dishwasher, refrigerator, trash compactor). Enjoy your meal by either eating at the counter on bar stools, sitting at the casual sit-down dining table or my favorite, bring your meal outside and dine al fresco at the large outdoor dining table.

Rounding out the first floor is one of the bedrooms, which I use exclusively as an office. Here you will find a desk-top computer with high speed internet access and a fax/copy machine. Attached to the office is a full bathroom. Also downstairs is the laundry room with a washer and dryer.

As you walk up the grand stair case you surely notice the25’ cathedral ceilings and all of the natural sun light which pours through the entire home. The master bedroom retreat and sitting area is decorated in an Italian Tuscan design and I am proud to say was featured on the cover of Better Homes & Garden's Creative Home magazine. There is a gloriously comfortable king size bed which sits upon a custom made wrought iron frame. Additionally the master bedroom has a sitting area with two very comfortable chairs and a small flat screen TV (Tivo here as well). The spa-like bathroom is very upscale with granite counter-tops and travertine marble. Not only is there is separate glass shower, one can’t miss the elegant and over-sized bath-tub which affords one the ability to enjoy long, leisurely baths by candle-light.

Continuing on the upstairs tour, crossing the "bridge" (open hallway so to speak where you can look down upon the family room and the living room) you will find two more bedrooms, a full bathroom as well as my art-studio. The bathroom has been newly re-decorated and has dual his/her sinks. Additionally, the shower, bath-tub and toilet are in a separate area of the bathroom which makes this bathroom ideal when multiple people are sharing it.

Across from this bathroom is a completely re-decorated bedroom which has a queen size sleigh bed. Finishing off the second floor is the gigantic bedroom of my son Cameron. This room is the same size as the master bedroom suite and has two single beds inside. Cameron loves exotic cars and the pictures on the wall coupled with the bright red paint will surely thrill any car aficionado.

All in all--in my ever so humble (and yes, of course slightly prejudiced) opinion—I think my home offers everything you would want and need for a visit to the fabulous city of San Diego. My home offers comfort, beauty and location, location, location. To me, my home is my haven. I have decorated and treat it with the utmost of care, just as I will do for your home. And of course, I ask for the same thing in return.

Please contact me right away as I LOVE to travel and explore new areas. I am single and retired and now that my son is off at the university I am free as a bird and can leave at any time. I am OPEN TO ANY AND ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD. I look forward to hearing from you and thank you in advance for considering my home. Many blessings to you!

Monique

Our Neighborhood

My home is ideally CENTRALLY located in an upscale community by the name of Sabre Springs which is in the middle of San Diego. Location is extremely important when visiting San Diego because of the fact that we are the 8th largest city in the United States. All "must see" sights are spread out throughout our gorgeous city and having a home centrally located will make your stay far more enjoyable and your drive times far shorter. (By the way, a car is a must in San Diego as public transporation is not efficient nor is it convenient.)

My home is the perfect home base for a remarkable San Diego vacation as every major San Diego tourist attraction from miles of white sandy beaches, our famous San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Lego Land, Wild Animal Park, La Jolla, Coronado, the Gaslamp district downtown, Padres Petco stadium (where our baseball team the Padres play), Coronado, Chargers Qualcomm stadium (our football team the Chargers play here), UCSD and SDSU and the legendary Torrey Pines Golf Course are within a 20-30 minute drive.

Venturing outside of San Diego, you will find Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm are an easy 1.5 hour drive from the house; Laguna Niguel, Newport Beach and other Orange County destinations are under an hour away; Hollywood, Los Angeles and Palm Springs are 2 hours away and Las Vegas is 5 hours away.

If you want to explore the mountains, the quaint historic town of Julian is a 45 minute drive from my home and for some international flavor a visit to Tijuana, Mexico will take you 30 minutes. A beautiful half-day drive will bring you to Santa Barbara and/or Yosemite National Park while a full-day drive will bring you to San Francisco and Napa Valley. Arizona can be reached in under three hours.

Sabre Springs is nestled in foothills north of Scripps Ranch and south of Carmel Mountain Ranch, Sabre Springs is home to quiet neighborhoods, rolling hills and numerous community parks for various activities. It is an upscale neighborhood very popular amongst families who love the central San Diego location, excellent freeway access and family atmosphere. Sabre Springs is on the eastern edge of the Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve which has great hiking, horse back riding and walking trails. If you catch the season right, you can walk one short mile into the preserve to find a large beautiful water-fall. To the south, you will find Miramar Lake which is a favorite amongst locals for hiking, biking, roller blading, walking and fishing. Sabre Springs truly provides residents and visitors alike with the balanced quality of life San Diegans are proud to enjoy.

Great food (be rest assured I will leave you lots of suggestions of all my favorites), supermarkets, movie theaters, bakeries, book stores, shopping of all kinds, hospitals, spas and gyms are all a few minutes from the home. Anything you need is right around the corner.

Lastly, another wonderful feature of my home/community are my terrific neighbors. I am very lucky to be surrounded by kind, caring and friendly people that will surely make you feel at home as well as be there to answer any questions you may have. That said, be confident in knowing your privacy will absolutely be respected during the duration of your stay.

Other Information

I have an adorable 2 lb. Chihuahua by the name of Bruser which I would love if you would be open to taking care of during the exchange. (I can board him if you prefer.) He is a true lap dog and very cuddling. He is potty trained and crate trained so if you need to be gone for long stretches of a day or even over-night, that is not a problem. I also have plants which may need a little watering during your visit. I, of course, am happy to reciprocate at your home.

About Us

Hi! My name is Monique, I am 47, single and am retired from my former career in Pharmaceutical Sales. I stopped working in a formal way 10 years ago to focus on raising my son Cameron, who is my pride and joy. Cameron is a Freshman at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and is a Performance Music major. (He plays the bass trombone and wants to play in a high level symphony as a career.) While I am thrilled Cameron will be educated at my Alma Mater, my heart aches that my baby is growing up and leaving the nest. That said, I have been blessed with a wonderful son and am excited to see the life he now will create for himself. I mention all of this because now that Cameron will be away at his university, I have no obligations in San Diego and am now 100% free and fully able to focus on my passion for travel.

I am an artist and create very whimsical, bright, fun art. Feel free to check out my website if you would like to get a feel for my art: http://www.fineartsculpturez.com . I adore hiking, biking, walking, music, dancing, reading, movies, friends and family. I also teach weekly art classes—on a voluntarily basis—to severely disabled adults. Teaching is extremely rewarding to me.

Those who know me describe me as outgoing, thoughtful, responsible, caring, intelligent, honest, loving, kind, neat, respectful and someone who loves to smile, laugh and find the joy in all life has to offer.

I have been all over the world and one of my goals is to step foot in every country. I adore meeting new people, exploring new areas, and learning about different cultures. I also love eating my way through each and every country I visit, yum! There is no where I will not travel to and am proud to say I am rather fearless and have no qualms about traveling alone. I have been married before and would love to be again, but until Mr. Right comes along, I will forge ahead and create exciting adventures on my own.

My personal freedom affords me the opportunity to be spontaneous. I always have a bag packed and am ready to go. Shoot me an email and let’s begin the process of getting to know one another.

I will treat your home with utmost respect and kindly ask for the same in return. I hope to hear from you and look forward to getting to know you as one of the best parts of home exchanging is making friends throughout the world.

Have a wonderful and blessed day. Thank you for reading a bit about me.
